Booked for 11AM sitting. Service was more rushed than remembered. Dishes were very ordinary: their signature HarGow was tasteless, the Shanghainese XiaoLoongPau was awful - pastry thick and dry, filling bland. Yes, I know - maybe I should not check out a Shanghainese dish in a Cantonese YumCha place. Even from early days, had thought they relied on their past... More

This is a melbourne institution. The restaurant boasts many awards and I can see why, they food comes fast and the restaurant was packed. They serve all the yum Cha classics like sticky rice to dumplings. If you are in melbourne and visiting china town.. Do yourself a favour and experience melbourne a finest Yum Cha.

I went for a family outing to the Shark Fin Restaurant in China Town, Melbourne which is not that old (Not Shark Fin Inn) and the food was good and the service was very prompt and friendly staff. Mr. Jason was very polite and willing to help. As I travel to many places and eat at many restaurants, I found... More

Shark Fin House is a familiar restaurant for Melbournians. This place is famous especially for it's lunchtime Yum Cha. While the Yum Cha is generally good, there were a few dishes that might have been a bit too salty. Different dishes also take quite a while to come out of the trolley and the dessert cart was no where to... More

Whilst food was acceptable, management lacked waiting resources. As such my husband's entree didn't arrive and when asked where it was, it finally arrived and was not what he ordered. Then we ordered the whole duck in pancakes very little of the duck was actually served up to us. Looking around, we noticed many unhappy diners who we're having their... More

The service was fantastic and the choice of dishes was great. The dishes we chose are not available at most Asian restaurants so we had a unique tasting experience. The meal was not overly expensive and they had a great selection of wines to compliment.

Went there for lunch and thought it would be easy to get food, instead had the same food offered multiple times on the trolley before we ask for something different, then waited 15 minutes for steam dumplings. Not the normal Shark Finn experience I'm used to.

Come here often on trips to Melbourne as I enjoy the occasional Peking duck. There is nothing unique about the dish though and the service lacks any warmth but sometimes it is difficult to break habits and traditions.
