Have been here about a dozen times. We like it very much. Have to say that in the last 6 months the servings have become smaller and in some cases the prices have also gone up. It's BYO which is great. Staff very helpful. Could do with a slightly bigger dining room.

We went to Ocha during the Melbourne Wine and Food Festival and had the express lunch (2 courses, plus glass of wine, plus tea/coffee). The service was excellent - speedy and friendly. The four small entrees (tastes of Ocha) were a delight and beautifully presented. These consisted of 2 scallops with a wonderful sauce, prawn balls, a small platter of... More

We heard about this Ocha Japanese Restaurant from many friends. Finally we managed to get there to enjoy the famed Japanese food. The service and ambience were great. Food was average. Sashimi was great and tasty. Expensive.

We were very happy with our evening. Food was tasty and staff were friendly and very attentive but also discreet (we did not feel pestered). While on a main road, the dining area is behind 2 walls of glass and so you hardly notice the traffic and there are nets in the window so it is nice and private. Mains... More

Consistently good for a great value lunch deal. Byo is you have an expensive bottle as corkage is $7.50. Great wine by the glass list starting from $7.50 so good drinks price anyway. Every thing that comes out of the open kitchen looks great. Nice room and service. Recommend.

We love the Japanese food at Ocha. The food is fresh and exciting. We have been back a few times and always pleased. The tempura crab, oysters, duck, sushi etc are brilliant. Always leave a space for dessert - especially for the chocolate pudding and the donuts. Note that space is tight and maybe hard for conversations on a busy... More

We began the evening with a Salmon Canapé – salmon tartare infused with wasabi on a homemade potato crisp topped with flying fish roe accompanied the bubbly. A delicious morsel which left people wanting more. The potato crisp was tasty but crumbled uncomfortably as one bit into the salmon. The first starter was Sugaki- Tasmanian oyster with Ocha’s vinaigrette. The... More

Went for a business lunch and it was the first time for me since they moved from their cute and crowded little restaurant. The food was good overall but the Whiting (fish) I had was very dry and uninspiring. The starters were very good but a little on the small side. The prices are now in keeping with their new... More

Dined here for a special occasion and by calling, managed to get a 7:00pm booking for a small group even though they have set seating arrangements at 6 and 8 pm. Was seated near the kitchen which was fine with us as we had a good look at the variety of dishes coming out of a busy but efficient kitchen.... More

After a couple of attempts at booking for a table of four, our friends finally got lucky and managed to book a table, luckily not the special one in front of the toilets! Everyone was excited with high expectations from the hypes around this place since it's opening, and boy were we disappointed. First impression was not very good with... More
