Description: When we opened the doors to MoVida in Hosier lane, Melbourne in 2003 no one knew what to expect. Here was this little bar on a graffiti covered cobbled lane near the cathedral serving Spanish tapas and shared plates in a down lit room playing funky tunes. It's the kind of place you can come in for a beer and a jamon croquetta at the bar and then move across to a table and share a plate of slow braised lamb, some patatas a lo pobre and down some seriously good Spanish red wine.

Both Movida and Movida Next Door are great, but I often prefer Movida because I can book a table and if I need a bathroom I don't need to go next door (important when it is raining in Winter). Slow cooked lamb, all the seafood and anything fresh is always worth writing home about. I am not a big one... More

Movida lives up to the hype. The food is very good. The flavors vary all over the place depending on the dish. You can have delicate, creamy, buttery to sour, crispy and crunchy. If you like Spanish food. Take the tiem to go to this place. It is worth the wait in line and standing outside inhaling all the smells... More

I went to Movida and to be honest, the food is just not right. Too much paprika. It doesn't taste right. The only thing is decent is the Bocadillo de Calamares, but still it does not look anything close to the one served in Spain. I tasted the Bomba (potato and chorizo inside), I could not taste the chorizo, again... More

Dined 22/12/14 - at Hosier Lane. Sat at bar style table - fabulous. We ordered from the Tapas menu - servings are small but more than adequate. Good variety of dishes Especially delicious were: Anchoa - Hand-filleted Cantabrian Artisan Anchovy on
Crouton with Smoked Tomato Sorbet Bocadillo - Brioche, Duck Liver Pate and PX Foam Toasted Sandwich Good selection of... More

I have just visited this restaurant and was very impressed. The staff were very attentive. The menu was varied and delicious. Each dish was well presented and served at steady and well paced rate. All in all a great experience.

Food amazing. Must have dishes - kingfish tapa and air dried wagyu raciones. Highly recommended. Service fantastic. Overall a fabulous evening and we will be back!

This was our second visit to Movida and we had booked well in advance, happy to jump ahead of the hopeful diners without bookings in the queue. We were seated at a table in the far corner. It was an extremely hot night and the air-con near us was problematically leaking and causing some angst for the staff. For the... More

What a great place to catch up with friends and have such special attentive, friendly service. The food was amazing and atmosphere was great. Chef Shane explained the menu to us and it was great being able to see the meals being prepared. A must visit when in Melbourne.

That's it really !!!!!! It was a very warm January evening. No aircon and packed. Our server was perceptive enough to realize we were expecting something that differed from what was on offer. Instead of winning these diners over with his establishments best he quickly served up 4 x tapa and 1 x raciona and asked if we'd had had... More

The food was very nice, the service also very nice. It is a bit expensive, but about the same for a nice restaurant in Melbourne CBD. Great atmosphere and location as it is nearby my office.
