Description: When we opened the doors to MoVida in Hosier lane, Melbourne in 2003 no one knew what to expect. Here was this little bar on a graffiti covered cobbled lane near the cathedral serving Spanish tapas and shared plates in a down lit room playing funky tunes. It's the kind of place you can come in for a beer and a jamon croquetta at the bar and then move across to a table and share a plate of slow braised lamb, some patatas a lo pobre and down some seriously good Spanish red wine.

We're a group of 4 who, once a month, try somewhere new. This time it was Movida, on a Friday night. We had a reservation. I'd recently been in Madrid, so my expectations may have been a bit higher than was reasonable. I'd been told Movida was great and in high demand, but I knew little else about it. I... More

We popped in for lunch after reading all the great reviews here and in the guide book. We were not disappointed. Everything we ordered was delicious but in particular the beef tartar and octopus. Great service as well and a really nice atmosphere.

Delightful from start to finish. Down the the cobbled Hosier lane through the avid graffiti exponents and the photographers. Open 12 noon until….. The entrance is befitting the environ, nothing flash here.Greeted with warm hospitality and luckily received a last table (we did not book, but there are tables turned frequently- timing!) The tapas starters, you order from ten or... More

Had high expectations based on the rave reviews I read. We could not get a reservation but went early and sat at the bar. We had a special of the day which was a fish stew that sounded great but was over salted. In hindsight I should have returned it. The best thing we had was the Iberico ham, which... More

Having read the many positive reviews we were disappointed when we popped in for lunch. We hadn't booked and on the positive side they managed to squeeze us in. We felt the place need a bit of tender loving care to brighten it up and make the most of the building inside. It is in a fabulous location on Hosier Lane,... More

Absolutely loved the atmosphere, food and wine. Felt like I was back in Spain. Great place to meet up with friends before a show!

Amazing date night, this is the second MoVida we tried and we were blown away by the service, and the food. Please get the Sangria...yumm! The beef cheeks were plate licking good. Take into account the specials on the board

MoVida is part of the new explosion of high quality, well priced restaurants in Melbourne's CBD and a place we love going back to again and again. Standouts are the Sangria, Braised Beef Check and the Wagyu with poached egg and truffle foam.
