When we opened the doors to MoVida in Hosier lane, Melbourne in 2003 no one knew what to expect. Here was this little bar on a graffiti covered cobbled lane near the cathedral serving Spanish tapas and shared plates in a down lit room playing funky tunes. It's the kind of place you can come in for a beer and a jamon croquetta at the bar and then move across to a table and share a plate of slow braised lamb, some patatas a lo pobre and down some seriously good Spanish red wine.

Great vibe, awesome food and interesting wines

Great greek style souvlakis and chips tondie for. Very busy the night we were there, and staff were friendly and easy to talk to. Wine is not cheap but what the heck, still worth the visit for something iconic

Make sure you book as a busy night is the norm and you don't want to be disappointed. The Tapas and meals here are unbelievable with each plate being a taste sensation. The staff are also very efficient and helpful without being over attentive. There isnt alot of room between tables but this just encourages making friends as we did.... More

We had a booking for 6pm and were constantly hurried to order our dishes and desserts due to people reserved for the 8pm sitting. All in all it would have been a better experience if we had the time to enjoy with friends.

We often find ourselves here when talking to clients. Consistently good food, exemplary service and one of the few places where you can get hold of Moritz beer.

Hard place to get a reservation but well worth the effort. Tasty food (shared plates) and great Spanish wine. Service was good also. Highly recommend the Moorish lamb to share (in fact get 2!)

I found Movida via Tripadvisor and my DK Travelguide. Our hotel receptionist told us to 'not go there' - she claimed it was overpriced and not special. Hell am I pleased I listened to my gut. AMAZING. We had 3 Beers, 2 Prosecco's, Sea snails, Cheese and Quince cigars, Veal & roe, Quail and Cod croquettes (pure food porn -... More

This is my absolute favourite place to eat in Melbourne which is a big call as Melbourne has the best food in Australia (or Movida Next Door). The food is so fresh, the share plates are perfect for a taste so you get to try so many of them. The staff are awesome, a bit cheeky too but so well... More
