My partner, good friend and I sat down to order at this small yet welcoming and relaxed restaurant. Generally, Lygon street restaurant employees are trying hard to tempt and lure you in to their restaurants, something that is famous and what I believe to be good fun. However, the Steakhouse was quite the opposite and this relaxed vibe was a... More

Had international work colleague who wanted a good steak, end up going for a platter, absolutely faultless, the spicy sausage, the whole was just to die for. The interaction with staff was very welcoming with great service. If you after a great feed on Lygon you cannot go past here

We paid $110 a head for lunch today, including two bottles of the cheapest reds on the menu. The quality of the scotch fillet ($44 each) was very good, and ours were all faultlessly cooked. But the decor and ambience are nothing to write home about, and it was the frankly outrageous prices for mineral water ($11/bottle), salads and bits... More

Although a little pricey you do get what you pay for and what you get is excellent steak cooked to perfection. One of the few restaurants on lygon st where you can actually read the menu without someone spruiking their wares trying to get you into their restuarant. Will go back next time we are in lygon st

Saw the menu during an after dinner walk on Lygon, reutrned some nights later and was not disappoited. Service not rushed, and the steaks were grilled to our satisfaction. Not too crowded and great placefor conversation. Wouldcome back the next time in Melbourne.

Not sure why the bad reveiws? We have a delicious meal starting with a tasting plate of spicy sausages, followed by steak (cooked to perfection - I like mine well done), with pepper gravy. Had the gravy on the side and comes in a gravy boat, so maybe on top would be better as there was far too much. Steak... More

I would not recommend this steakhouse to anyone. My wife, my mother and I, as with the other reviews we walked up and down Lygon Street and eventually settled on the steakhouse because the menu looked good. Our waitress wasn't bad and seemed friendly enough and they were quick in bringing out drinks which is always a bonus. All of... More

The atmosphere is appealling, the people are nice, and in my experience the steak is very good, and knowledgeably cooked. But you expect good steak in Australia - what I have trouble accepting is the prices. I suppose you're paying for the atmosphere of Lygon Street, because I had an equally good sirloin at the Arcadia rooftop terrace in South... More

We chose Lygon St and after walking up and down selected this restaurant. What a mistake. Steak was poor, sauces were bland and uninteresting. A basic question of 'do you have baked potatoes?" was answered with a vegetable stew of carrots, potatoes and some kind of strange sauce. Lazy service, and overpriced food. No fun at all.

My wife went out seeking a restaurant we had never eaten at before and came across the Lygon Steakhouse. We enetered, sat inside the restaurant and ordered our meals which both included salad and 'specified' that we did not want onion included which the waiter noted down. Suprise suprise when our salads arrived both were loaded with onion (hate when... More
