Jazz and shiraz

Who said Monday evenings are dull and boring? On a short break in the buzzing city of Melbourne we dined at La Camera. Far better than my amateur photography!

One of my favourite restaurants on Chapel Street. Family owned and run. Good range of food. I especially enjoy the veal dishes and chicken Parma. All the meals I've had were tasty and beautifully presented and the coffee was just to my liking.

Ok so I went to this restaurant this afternoon and managed to score a nice outdoor table. It was 6.25. At 6.27 the waitress came over. I asked if it was still happy hour (supposed to finish at 6.30). The response "sorry guys". My friends laughed it off but i thought it was wrong. As we were here prior to... More

It all works together very well. The restaurant is calm and warm, the staff are not stressed, and the owner Luci looks over everything that happens. The Amatriciana is excellent, as is pizza and tortellini. Prompt service, good drinks, and very good value. If you have had a big day at work on a cold winter's day in Prahran, this... More

My husband and I rolled up for lunch just as some event had finished at Hamer Hall - there was a queue out the door! Luckily we had booked and a cosy outdoor table was found for us out on the balcony but I wasn't expecting too much as the staff were seriously under the pump. Amazingly we were attended... More

Twice within a week for us when attending concerts at the Hamer Hall next door. Likewise convenient for State Theatre and National Gallery, car parking, trams and Flinders Street station. Popular and a good idea to book. Menu mainly Italian but quite extensive: quality good, also the wine, available by the glass and reasonably priced. Waiting staff attentive. Just south... More

I need to be able to give a half star mark here because it wasnt average at 3 stars but nor was it very good at 4 stars. It was 3.5 stars so Good. We ate in a large group. The breads were good, the bruschetta bog standard and needed more acidity. Mains across the table varied. The meatballs had... More

We ate here one evening this week and enjoyed the experience. It was very busy and we hadn't booked but we were still seated in a 'quieter' corner as requested. The staff were pleasant and attentive. We ordered a selection of antipasti with some advice from the server and the selection was fresh and tasty. This we followed with a... More

Dinner with my husband, we had a delicious meal stating with a huge plate of antipasto to share, lots of variety and very tasty. I had the fish of the day which was the best fish I have tasted in a long time, perfectly cooked with a lovely topping and great roast potatoes. My husband had gnocchi, which he loved.... More
