Nice experience and good price for French

We spent our Sunday noon here for my birthday. Service was just ordinary but I liked the fact that they didn't come to us every second to see how we are going. Basically, simply took the order and delivered. Food was really nice. We had Scampi, duckling and rabbit with lettuce with blue cheese... read more

I had visited this restaurant tonight to celebrate my husband's birthday. Although I'm 5 month pregnant, l felt like a glass of red after so so long, but ended up having only half a glass the whole night because l'm pregnant. For entrée we ordered mussels, although the shells were large, the mussel meat inside was very very small, dry... More

A bustling bistro, noisy and congested. The tables were small and crammed so close it’s hard to squeeze into your seat without disturbing your neighbour. The tight setting didn’t make for comfortable dining. The classical cuisine was good but not exceptional. The service was alright. For entrée we had: Mussels in white wine – nice but some shells did not... More

I am French and have heard about France-Soir since I arrived in Melbourne 6 years ago. I finally went there last Friday and I wasn't disappointed. The waiters are all French and the atmosphere is great and like back home! It really feels like you could be in a bistrot in Paris! The food was fantastic and even the gherkin, the... More

After living in Paris for 9 years and being in Melbourne, France Soir is my second home. The real style of the French brasserie, from the food to the ambiance to the friendly waiters speaking in French. So magnificent! A true gem.

Utterly appalling. The most repulsive steak tartare I have ever had - too many onions and capers and simply dumped on a plate like cheap supermarket mincemeat. Onion soup was under-whelming too. Pork belly was passable. A 'highly regarded' and popular restaurant for because it's a 'classic', not for the quality of the food... Avoid if you've ever tasted proper... More

This was not the first time we have eaten here, each time we have been there we are nothing but extememly satisfied with the beautiful meal. 4 of us went for dinner last week for my daughters 23rd birthday. Daughter had spent 12 months living in France a few years ago, even she was very impressed with the meals we... More

This is a busy and authentic restaurant with great food and service. Our meals were very good and we were even able to BYO wine for a special occasion. Couldn’t resist the profiterols!

We thoroughly enjoyed the food here, but the noise level we were so crammed in we could not move and the noise level was so high that my wife's cochlear implant , which cuts out at the legal maximum permissible noise level, was cut off most of the time, while the rest of us found it impossible to communicate. This... More
