2 days ago my wife and I had a great dinner at the Deanery. Located in the back of a vary busy alley where you might not want to go in at first sight. I had a perfect bloody mary and I can't remember having eating such tender slow cooked meat in a wine sauce. My wife had croquettes filled... More

I was taken here for a work dinner with colleagues, the service was fantastic and thee were many gluten free options. The decor was lovely and the food very tasty, what more could you want!

Have been there a few time for dinner & also for a drink and light bites. On each occasion the food, wine and service have been excellent. A very extensive wine list which at first seemed daunting but all you have to do is ask for help, say what you intend to order and the style of wine you like... More

I spent AGES trying to find a location that wasn't too intimate, too noisy, too pricey etc for a business dinner. I came across The Deanery thanks to a search on Dimmi for 'business' meal locations and confirmed it was the place for us after reading a review on Tripadvisor. The eight of us were take upstairs to a carpeted... More

The deanery is at the end of one of those little lane ways off flinders lane and therefore must survive as a destination in itself as there is no "passing traffic".i thought it was a bar and went in for a drink with my wife but it has a dining area at the back. The decor and ambience were casually... More

A hidden gem but really nice. When I first enter, I think I'm in "just a pub", but this place is much more - there are lots of options too. It can be a good after work drinks outing, just snacks and tapas or you can choose to have a great meal in the good dining area upstairs. Food is... More

The food was the best we have had in quite some time. And the service was excellent. Wonderful selection of wines. The price of food was very reasonable. Clearly the chef loved making the best food for his customers. Highly recommend The Deanery to any one in Melbourne CBD.

We came here only for entree as we had other restaurants booked for mains and desserts. The entrees did not disappoint though I felt the beetroot could have been seasoned a little more. The oyster with lime and green chilli is to die for!! Our other 2 guests also enjoyed their entrees. We had a nice wine here to. The... More

Held a business dinner at the Deanery and was impressed from the moment I arrived. The dinning room is busy and comes alive with activity as it fills with bustling business types. The upstairs area has a large communal table perfect for business dinners, the room is surrounded by cellar wines starting the salivation. The wine menu is extensive with... More
