Always reliable

We have eaten here many times and are rarely disappointed. It is authentic Italian and the waiters very Italian. I would like a bigger selection of meats with my pasta but that is just me.

I took my two children (girl 4 and boy 6) to meet Dad for dinner. They both decided to dress like Daddy! The staff were very warm and friendly and took the dress up in very good humour. The pair of them looked like a couple of old Italian men enjoying their food. My son declared it the best restaurant... More

What can I say one of my favourite Italian restaurants in all of Melbourne. The staff are incredible and the food compliments everything else. It's a little squeezy but once you're seated it feels like home. If you are taking a girlfriend there make sure you book the balcony. Fabulous dining.

We visited as a family and were surprised how amazing the food was. The restaurant was dimly lit and cosy the staff we lovely and food was delicious. Desserts also. A very nice spot on chapel street close to parking too. The winter menu was beautiful and had everything from veal to pasta and the best seafood linguini I have... More

We stopped by for lunch almost by accident while visiting Melbourne for the weekend and then returned again for dinner on Sunday night because we liked it so much. The menu has a small range of dishes but the food is excellent. We only tried the Australian wines which were good-quality and reasonably priced. Excellent service

Always reliably good food. Good service, but after about the tenth - twelth visit I have to be honest and say there is something missing in the service. I wondered if its the fact that they all chat in italian around you, making you feel like an outsider; but its not that I think its part of their charm, I... More

The service is traditional Italian and the food was quite tasty but the tables are small. So if you are looking for romance or privacy this is not the place. The pasta was freshly made and the prices very reasonable so all in all I would say it was OK. With so much choice though I am not convinced I... More

I'm deeply disappointed with writing this review as this was one of our favourite restaurants in Melbourne and we made a yearly pilgrimage to this restaurant to have the linguine di mare. This year I was disappointed overall with this restaurant. The chef has definitely changed, the dish was not as good. We also had artichokes which were battered, I... More

A trip to Melbourne isn't complete with the favourite Italian - caffe e cucina. The staff are wonderfully friendly, the atmosphere very Italian, the food wonderful and the service great. Go for upstairs warmer, friendlier and if you find it too noisy ask for the Romeo and Juliet balcony and don't worry the service was just as attentive out there... More

We've been fortunate to have enjoyed the delights of Cafe e Cucina for 25 years or so, however it seems to have come to an end. We visited a couple of months ago and came away disappointed, however when in Melbourne!! So on our next visit to Melbourne we tried again, hoping our previous experience was just a " one... More
