Two mains with rice or noodles for $12 They also have an Ala Carte menu for a few dollars more. Its not licensed & more of cafe... More

It takes some time to get your head around the Indian/Asian fusion but the food isn't bad and it's really cheap. The stir fry was ok it could have had a little bit more meat though.

Bala's is the cheapest restaurant where to eat in Acland Street in St Kilda. Indian and Asiatic food. The food is really tasty and the service is quick. It has many vegetarian option and really nice Mango Lassi.

I had a Thai chicken Tom Yum stir fry with Hokkien Noodles. It was AWFUL.Very little chicken, bland taste and not even a hint of lemongrass.Plus it had broccoli in it ! And celery is not an Asian vegetable either.Plus it had the old chestnut 'Singapore Noodles' on the menu. There is no such dish.It is a purely a name for yesterdays leftovers... More

Meat dish was lacking in meat, 90% was noodles, 9% vegitables and 1% meat. Not what I was expecting when you pay for the extra to the vegetarian dish. Very surprised when reading receipt to find GST was added to their advertised prices. Is this like adding a compulsory tip or surcharge? Partner ordered ginger dish but there was no... More

My partner ( A Thai national) and myself went there last night; the food served here would be classed as baby food in Thailand; sorely lacking herbs and spices and any flavour and to top it off we both have very bad stomach problems today. This is a great place for many westerners that aren't used too highly flavoured and... More

This restaurant presents an unusual menu offering an eclectic mix of Indian, Thai and Chinese dishes. If the intention was to create a one-stop shop of sorts, it succeeds - there are not that many places in Melbourne where Thai noodles, roti chanai and beef vindaloo appear on the same menu. Bala's main business appears to be takeaway rather than... More

Great food, with ready to eat dishes available to take away in various sizes and combination options. Friendly efficient staff get through the crowds asap. We had the chilli beef, coconut rice and green chicken curry in a large container for $11.40, almost enough for 2 to share!
