Okay food. Expensive in terms of value. Gorgeous diminutive interior. Solid, respectful service (if a little hurried & distracted). It is a very NEARLY EXCELLENT little French-inspired option right in the centre of town. Ive been here at all times of day. On this occasion, I took along 2... read more

We are from Europe and we like french food. After months eating Australian meals we were looking forward to have a french meal. The bouillabaisse was not a thick as we know from France. The taste was ok. The seafood was cooked perfectly. The rouille was very nice too. The steak tartare was comme ce, comme ca. Wine ok. Staff... More

Had a work lunch here and having read the rave reviews I was actually expecting a bit more, perhaps this restaurant is better for dinner . The place has character and atmosphere (see pics) and the lunchtime service is quick. Try The Creme Broulee for dessert, it was excellent.

This is a great place for dinner before or after a show because the service is very quick and attentive. The decor is amazing and the service is very friendly, The only draw back for me this time is that we weren't in a hurry so the meals were served a bit quickly and the service was a little too... I attended this restaurant in a group of 9 people just prior to seeing Cats at the Regent Theatre located on the opposite side of the road. We arrived early, before the restaurant opened and because it was exceptionally hot outside we asked if we could come into the restaurant and wait for the others to arrive. This was no... More

Nice spot, possibly a bit touristy, but so what when the food is good and the service matches. We were lucky to walk in and find a table quickly, as its not a large restaurant and therefore booking might be a good idea.

We last went 5 years ago for our 35th wedding anniversary. Tonight we returned for our 4th anniversary. The meal was just as we remembered. Good French food with excellent wine. Friendly efficient service and the hosts recommended wine/food choice was excellent. Hopefully it is less than 5 years before we return from across the ditch.

French based food in upscale Melbourne. Prices were quite high and food was very good, but not great. Service was friendly and helpful.

When booking(recommended) I was asked what time I needed to be out by. This is theatre district so it's good to be assured of fast service, if you need it. Great friendly service, small but excellent menu. Extensive wine list. The results on the plate were wonderful - and we were out in time to walk, not rush to the... More

We love French Brasserie eating and this place makes a really good effort. The food was good and the service friendly. Only real drawback was the cramped conditions. The tables for two really didn't have enough space so wine was kept at the bar..note my pet hate is when I have to ask to have my glass topped up with... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
