Thai share plates in a train carriage.

Great food, lots of flavour. Busy bar and restaurant. We shared a carriage and numerous plates with friends. Everything was fresh and tasty. A great venue.

After many attempts to get into this restaurant we finally bit the bullet and waited for one and a half hours to eat. It's not so bad when you go down stairs to the bar to wait. Gogo bar is a great spot and the staff helped make the time pass quickly. The drinks were excellent, Aperol Spritz and Coburg... More

If this is what Asian Fusion is all about its the first and last experience for me. The service was busy but ever so slow and dishevelled. Great if you love attending a pseudo chilli festival that masks the real taste of food this is one for you. Beer to temper the chilli 15 mins and wine 20 minutes. There... More

The good news is you don't need a reservation, and the bad news is you will likely have to wait for a table, but it's worth it. The menu has a lot of variety, it's all very tasty/spicy, Recommend going family style. Very reasonably priced. Atmosphere is lively and the music is fun. A must try!

A real buzz to this restaurant. Booking is not allowed except for really large parties so you have to wait about a bit but it's worth it. The wine list was O.K. and not outrageously expensive. Tons of dishes to choose from. You are meant to share which means you get lots of flavours. I had a great time -... More

Loved every thing about Chin Chin. Have dined here a few times. If going for dinner you can be waiting for up to 2 hours but it is worth it( head downstairs for a few pre dinner drinks). Lunch time is a great time to go as long as you get there before 12 you will seated straight away. Staff... More

This was on the list based on a handful of recommendations from friends so I couldn't let Chin Chin go amiss. I was disappointed. Based on the suggestions of friends, I gave in to the hour long wait and decided to have a few drinks in the bar while waiting for a table. Myself and my partner options for the... More

The latest restaurant 'to be' in the City of Melbourne. I found it interesting. It was recommended to us by our hotel staff as the new 'happening' restaurant. As Chin Chin is a word often used for toasting and is of Chinese derivation and there were chopsticks on the table, I found it to be interestingly mainly a Thai menu. Having... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
