We waited 1 hr and 20 minutes to get a table on Sunday evening. By the time you sit down you are so hungry that everything on the menu sounds good. We ordered laab gai, chilli salt chicken wings, mackerel curry and caramelized sticky pork, palm sugar ice cream sundae with salted honeycomb, and both ordered a coconut drink with... More

We ate on a Friday lunchtime and the place was packed. But they turn the tables fast and we were seated after about one beer/20 minutes wait. Brilliant meal all around and fast, efficient and friendly service. Would go back every week if we lived in Melbourne. One of the best restaurants we've ever experienced.

As a visitor to Melbourne, Chin Chin was number one on recommendations to eat from fellow travelers. We arrived at 11:30am on a Thursday and were seated right away, however true to its reputation the restaurant was full by 12. We tried the special green chicken curry of the day, silken tofu salad, beef noodles and spanner crab curry. The... More

What a beast. Always fun, always beyond tasty. Go early, get on the list, get half-drunk at Gogo, get the feed me option. Just do it.

Having tried to get into Chin Chin with a 2 1/2 hour wait before, the 10 minute wait to get in the door and 40 minute wait to sit at the bar for our meal was ok, the food was amazing we tried foods we would never normally have ordered. It did feel a "lot" rushed and was very noisy.... More

Chin chin was the place to be when I visited Melbourne in April. They don't take bookings over the phone so you have to walk down there and personally hand your name and phone number over (details that every other place would take over the phone). They then call you to let you know your table is ready. Inside it's... More

I have visited Chin Chin on my last 3 trips to Melbourne from queensland. I never make a reservation and find myself there around 2pm on a Fri or Sat arvo with no real problem getting a table. My husband and I tend to order a few small plates to share and find this sufficient. I really enjoy the crispy... More

We were fortunate to get here at about 5:30 p.m. on a Wednesday night. Seated immediately. Waiter came over, discussed the menu a bit and made many recommendations, circling them all in pencil on our menu, encouraging us to get many dishes for sharing. We ordered a number of items. I had the braised wagu beef rib. It was very... More

The bottom line up front is that the food is very good Thai / Asian fusion, but if you want to enjoy your meal over the course of a few hours and not feel rushed, you may wish to look elsewhere. If you order a number of plates, they may all come out at once and your food will get... More

We eat out several times a week and like to think we choose good quality restaurants and cafés where we spend a lot of our hard earned cash. Trying to book a table for four in some recent city centre restaurants ,such as here , is so difficult. We re in our 30's to 50's and take our eating quite... More
