This hip urban space in Melbourne's CBD is a welcoming retreat from the cold with its effervescent fit-out, attentive service and creative cuisine.

Queen Street Rescue Restaurant Bar dishes out contemporary Australian fare with unique flavour combinations. The restaurant has a rustic, weathered look about it, from the shabby chic wall panels in white, baby green and lilac hues to the long timber tables with their bucolic-style wooden chairs.

Great food, wine and some old fashioned table service where the wait staff do more than just take your order but make you feel like you've been coming here for years!

We also cater for those needing a Gluten Free menu!

I really like this café - it has a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, with comfortable spacious seating, good acoustics (which means easy chat) and good coffee. I had a very productive business meeting, due in part to the conducive atmosphere. The service is lovely and the entire experience is really positive. I'll be back here.

We found Queen Street Rescue through trip advisor and I used their on-line reservation option. We arrived and were taken to our table, it was a Friday night so there were quite a few people there having after work drinks, fortunately it was still within the "Happy Hour" time frame so we joined in. We have a garlic & cheese... More

The staff here were unhelpful and seemed disinterested, which is indicative of the service culture in Australia. There are much much better options within walking distance of this venue down Little Bourke Street.

Went on a business lunch. Because of the numbers, we were asked to preorder which is understandable but when we were all seated the preordered ditches came out but in drips and drapes. The last dish, an entree kofta or something like it, was presented over an hour later! It is not busy too and one can see the chefs... More

Next to and adjoining Adina hotel. Very good for breakfast with good service from 06:30. Very good dinner food and service. Street side tables or indoors. Quite expensive.

The staff are quite nice and the atmosphere is relaxed. The menu isn't too complicated. My food was very good, the fillet steak was cooked perfectly. Some of the others in the group said their food wasn't cold to their liking but I'm only grading on my experience which was very good. I would go again

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
