Quirky and Fun

Pony fish Island is just a little space surrounding one of the supports of a pedestrian walkway across the Yarra River, but it has become one of the places to be seen about Melbourne. As space is limited & entry can be hard in summer months, a doorman limits access. If you are lucky enough to enter, enjoy your drinks... More

Weren't there for a drink or two after dinner. We were greeted by a man in his underwear obviously completely intoxicated and threatening to go for a late night swim in the Yarra in June. It was freezing. Interesting place we said. The atmosphere was pretty good and the drinks were well priced. Bloody windy and cold though.

I have been here 2 or 3 times now. First time they did not have all drinks advertised available & were quite blunt when explaining this. Second time we were told there were no jugs when they were clearly on the menu & whilst trying to ignite the outdoor heaters was made feel like an idiot by the bar men.

had a few drinks with mates before heading off to dinner. Loved the music, drink prices are reasonable and it creates a unique atmosphere sitting in an island in the middle of the Yarra. Definitely would recommend this quirky little bar.

We didn't eat here; we only had drinks. We were drawn to it across the bridge by the music. The bartenders were blasting Michael Jackson and practicing their dance moves. There was no one else there, but it seemed like a fun spot, so we ventured over. It was a chilly day, so I sipped the mulled cider and the... More

Enjoyed the atmosphere, staff were great, views are excellent and the Tequila went down a treat. Would definately party here again.

Lovely place set under the pedestrian bridge, we popped in for some breakfast, the options are limited but very tasty, well priced and I don't think the purpose of the place is to be a large scale restaurant but more a bar to have a nice drink...which it is with lovely views of the city! We couldn't get coffee as... More

We stumbled over this place as we crossed the Yarra and had a couple of really good sessions during my recent Melbourne visit Plenty of heaters to keep you warm inside and out and love their own branded beer.

Cute place on the Yarra to people watch. Novel idea to have a cafe and bar set around a pylon of a bridge. Always busy and often hard to find a seat. Food and wine quite good, not outstanding. It is the atmosphere, view and service that make the place.
