I do not write a review to criticise- I write it as I see it at the time - normally after 3 or more visits. It is imperative for a restaurant, especially one in a street like Lygon Street to uphold their set standard. I have eaten repeatedly at restaurants on 'the strip' and had various experiences in quality. Some... More

We stumbled across this seafood cafe which was amongst a whole lot of Italian Restaurants. We wanted something light and we were not disappointed. The seasoned calamari was really the nicest and most tender we have ever had the pleasure of finding when dining out. The chips, yes they were thin, however they were great.

This guy is out of control. Complaining that he couldn't grill the fish as we selected option 2. His explanation was arrogant and confronting. He gave me 2 dirty looks whilst I was waiting, told off the fellow staff member, forgot my potato cake and when asked it said loudly it's coming. Put simply this bloke is a clown AVOID

Had lunch here yesterday. Great staff, great menu, and a very pleasant atmosphere. We both went for the battered flathead, which was sweet and succulent. The chips were well cooked and had a lovely seasoning. The accompanying tartare sauce was very nice indeed, the addition of salad was pleasant if odd. Probably one of the best chippies I've eaten at... More

We have visited Melbourne a few times in the last 4 years and have trekked up and down Lygon St, Carlton just as frequently. The lovely menus of the Italian restaurants (and there are a lot) are spoiled by the spruker's trying to draw you to a table, the constant background noise, and mainly by by the ridiculous prices being... This fish and chip shop is more than fish and chips - it is a delight to eat. A flavour explosion. The seasoning used was like no other. The service was tip top and food is reasonably priced. Fish is all Australian. On top of all that, the shop is kept immaculate. I will return!

They have fresh fish & salads on display, I had the fish of the day, rockling, with coleslaw, this slaw, had a delicious sweet dressing, chips, it was served with a slice of lemon and tartar sauce. I also had a glass of Sav Blanc. They had other wine & beer available. We sat out side in the sun and... More

While holidaying in Melbourne with friends we decided to have an easy lunch and stopped in at Tank Fish & Chippery and it was amazing! Eight meals were ordered and eight meals were very much enjoyed! The calamari & fish were cooked to perfection and the chips were seasoned beautifully. If you're in the area...do yourself a favour!!

Had lunch with the family here after some locals recommended the place. Hands down, best fish and chips I've ever eaten! The fish, calamari and chips were all seasoned, it was delicious mate. I would be a regular customer if I lived in Melbourne :)

Was wondering up Lygon Street trying to decide on an Italian restaurant (being hassled by restraunteers 'my mama makes the pasta' and 'I give you free wine!' trying to secure our business). After a long walk my partner says to me, 'I actually really just feel like that fish and chip shop back there'. Sounds good to me! Much to... More
