Warm and friendly setting with delicious Italian food

We went to Scugnizzo for dinner and were delighted with the food and service. The restaurant is tucked away in a small laneway and is cosy and warm with lovely wooden furniture. The food was exceptional; brimming with freshness and flavour. The best Italian I have eaten in Melbourne. Don't miss it!

Here's a find, for us. Pot luck at the business end of Little Bourke Street one evening, we found Scugnizzo a short way down a side alley in what looks like a renovated old warehouse building. Inside was a warm and charming welcome and a most attractive modern dining room, with the old black and white photos on the wall... More

Tucked away off Little Bourke St, this is an Italian gem. The owner and staff are a pleasure to be with. Scugnizzo means naughty little boy, and it's the cheeky smile of the restaurant"s owner and his attention to detail, that makes for a fun night out. We don't head into the CBD often for dinner, but once or twice... More

Four of us ate at Scugnizzo today. Ambience is lovely and service prompt, helpful and friendly. Food is good italian fare; two pizzas were tasty and well made. The other two chose the rigatoni dish and enjoyed it very much. The suggested bottle of italian chianti was perfect. A nice place well worth trying.

Caught up with family in Melbourne and booked this after reading reviews. We may have gone on an 'off' night however we were disappointed with the quality of the food. We only had mains - lamb (overcooked) accompanied by roasted vegetables that were swimming in oil, 'grilled' calamari (usually an entree) that appeared to have been cooked in the lemon... More

The welcome and seating were excellent and the service was really exemplary all night. I wouldn't describe the room as warm or romantic but it is pleasant; the exposed brick gives it an industrial look but the pictures soften that somewhat. It's not a typical Italian menu but is all the better for that. The calamari with pancetta and peas... More

Friendly service. The food was quite nice. The pasta was slightly over cooked but still the meal was very nice. Definitely would come back.

Visiting Melbourne, and was looking for a good Italian restuarant to eat at. We were very happy with our visit to this restuarant. Not only was the food delicious, varied interesting menu and of reasonable price but it was also the experience of feeling really welcomed to the restuarant -The restaurateur himself taking time to chat with guests . Walked in for a Friday lunch this rustic place was cosy and pleasant. The service was very friendly and a pleasant ambiance The waiter recommended an Italian red which was the highlight. Food wise, certainly had better Italian food the pasta ragu was bland. Over all ok Would I go back, not in a hurry as there are better and... More
