Great food, great atmosphere!

This cafe is very popular, so waiting to be seated can be lengthy, but it is worth it!! Definitely recommend visiting this cafe if you are in Melbourne, the food is great and the people are friendly. Consistently great food and service, the Hardware Societe is the best breakfast place in the CBD. Whilst it's not always easy to get in on the weekends, it's always worth the wait. Had the chance to visit before work this morning and was seated straight away. Will definitely keep coming back, if only for the delicious donuts they serve with... More

Hardware Societe is a great cafe to dine at solo because you're almost guaranteed an immediate table for the CBD's hottest breakfast. Try solo dining for yourself! How often do you spend quality time with your own company? Eating by yourself and for yourself is a wonderful activity. At Hardware, I slowly and mindfully indulged in the omelet. It was... More

The service, the food and the atmosphere are all part of the experience. The food is amazing and such a wonderful combination of flavours on the salmon plate. My favourite.

Myself, and my group of friends, are unlikely to return after our most recent visit (on a Wednesday morning) to this cafe as it was far too noisy. I could not have a conversation with anyone seated at my table without shouting, which is what everyone else in the cafe also had to do. The sounds and atmosphere of a... More

Simply a must go. Long lineup for it but its worth the wait. We ordered the lobster benedict and a pork belly. the lobster is steeped in butter and is heaven on a bun. the pork is roasted so well its moist and tasty and its skin is crunchy with the fat underneath like toffee. i had a flat white... I went here for breakfast with some work colleagues and very much enjoyed the food and ambience of this busy little cafe. The cafe has a French influence and while the menu items are small, they are done well and taste delicious. We had the baked eggs and they were amazing. The prices are on the higher side bit are... We've tried several famous brunch stores during our stay in Melbourne. We love the food and the energy here most. The food is fresh and delicious. Can't wait to visit again.

One of my favorite places when I visit Melbourne. I had told my friend how fabulous the brekkie is.....and we were not disappointed. I can't go past the Lobster Benedict ...my friend was delighted to see Pork Belly on the menu. The meals are a generous size and I couldn't eat all of mine. I did get a taste of... More

I think I am the only one with this problem as no one else has mentioned it, but it took us 2 days to locate this place and I finally ended up calling and getting directions. The problem is that google maps has the arrow in the wrong place. This restaurant is in between Little Lonsdale and Lonsdale. Obviously, by... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
