My husband and I dined at Sageleaf recently and experienced a very pleasant evening. Although it was a Friday evening, there were only four other diners, which somewhat surprised us. The restaurant is small and intimate, not sure about the noise level though if it is full, as there are ceramic tiles on the floor. The service is very good.... More

I had dinner here with a friend on a recent visit to Melbourne (Hawthorn). Samll but interesting menu. We both had the callops with pea puree tartlet to start - very good - followed by the fish (barramundi) and beef tenderloin with celeriac andd apple remoulade, also very good. Finished with the meringue which ireally liked even though I am... More

Sageleaf is a neighbourhood gem. The food is excellent, and the service is attentive and polite, but not intrusive. Despite the high end food, they have a high chair, so little ones are welcome (and the owner reiterated this when we talked to her).

i work nearby further down Burwood Rd and have often walked past during the day, looked in eh window at the menu (not open for lunch) and wondered about Sageleaf. Finally went last night with girlfriends and my expectations were not disappointed! The restaurant is part of one of the old shops that line Burwood road, east of Auburn Road... More

The Sageleaf is a small restaurant - one of many established in the old shops along a usually busy street in Hawthorn East. With a simple, but pleasant decor, we found it cosy and comfortable. Where the Sageleaf excels is the food. Across our party of 6, we had a variety of entrees, mains and deserts - all excellent. Although... More

Very boutique restaurant. Quality and freshness of food is first class. Service is also very good. A place I would go back too.

This restaurant in Hawthorn East some 10 kilometres from the Melbourne CBD is frequented by Camberwell/Hawthorn residents, rather than international travelers. With some 20 years experience working at well-known restaurants in London and Melbourne, the chef is now running his own restaurant. The food was excellent and not overpriced. The staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. All this... More

Was a bit disappointed with this small bistro after hearing a number of people speak about the place. Firstly the food is good and worth the prices charged but it lacks "something" to make it "great" I feel that presentation is a major downfall and needs to be looked at by the Chef. Entree, Mains and desserts were pleasant but... More

We went to Sageleaf as a part of a group. Out in Hawthorn on a very ordinary stretch of road, this little bistro serves up a brief menu of great character & spread of ingredients. Beetroot salad with goats cheese croquettes, duck confit were memorable. BYO option. And great value. Food only for two about $140.
