Tasty Breaky before Shopping

Found this great spot before an epic shopping spree in Melbourne. Wonderful service, food and most importantly the COFFEE....... The scrambled eggs were great and not too buttery as we experience in Perth. Well Done.

A very busy cafe, good choices on menu, very friendly and quick service. Price wise, competitive with other cafes along this laneway. Quality of food excellent.

Arrived with only 30 min to spare before I had to attend my course in French Conversation. My order was taken immediately by a friendly young man. The vibe is good, the music doesn't interfere with the hustle and bustle of this great laneway. My French toast was cooked to perfection and I also noticed that the table next to... More

We love visiting this restaurant; the food is hearty, tasty, and as fresh as can be. It's a noisy bustling Melbourne café and brilliant. As out of towners we don't get there as much as we would like but ALWAYS have several visits when staying in town. Recommend highly.

Having just arrived in Melbourne following a gruelling long haul flight, I needed strong coffee and decent comfort food, and Lorca fitted the bill nicely. The place is very casual, with lots of staff on hand to help out. Our table was great - glass topped with coins from lots of countries underneath. Great design! Our lunch was fantastic, and... More

There are lot of places to choose in this area but we ended up in Lorca, I think probably because the staff was quite quick to welcome customers so we didn't hesitate to try. Lot of choices for breakfast, staff was really efficient and friendly. Food was ok, overall it was a nice experience.

Although in a buzzing location, the Lorca restaurant was disappointing. The coffee was not up to Melbourne standards. We had the Mediterranean sharing platter, everything was greasy and lacked flavour. Would not go again or recommend. The service was friendly, so no complaints there.

We ordered the slow-cooked lamb, grilled chicken and the daily special of risotto with chicken and mushrooms. All three dishes were very delicious and we left Lorca very pleased and contented, and planning to return for another meal during our trip here.

The staff here are not only accommodating but quick on their feet. Always with a smile and gentle banter. This is my second time here and I like it a lot. I would recommend the call me daddy pizza and lamb shank.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
