Description: Yak Italian Kitchen serves modern italian food on the popular flinders...
Yak Italian Kitchen serves modern italian food on the popular flinders lane food precinct and is open for walk-ins and bookings five nights a week until late. Leo Gelsomino, our head chef, and his kitchen team use fresh, seasonal ingredients. All our dishes are hand made in the artisan tradition from pasta to pizza dough, which is kneaded from stone-ground flour. Our drinks list is focused on italian-style wines that are designed to be drunk with food. We have one of the best lists of Italian crafted beers in the city and a vast cocktail menu. Everyday Traditional Happy Hour and Late Night Yak specials are featured on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from 11pm to 3am Breakfast : Mon - Fri : 7:00 - 11:30 Lunch : Tue - Fri : 12.00Pm - 3pm Dinner : Tue - Sat 5.30Pm - 10.00Pm Bar opening times Tuesday, Wednesday : 7:30am - midnight Thursday, Friday & Saturday : 7:30am - 3am

Ups and downs

We walked past Yak several times, always appeared busy, so we booked for a pre theatre dinner. We reminded staff on arrival we needed to be out by 7.30. The tagilatelle with rabbit dish was outstanding. The gnocchi with veal slighty cold, served with strange, stone cold veal rib? bones. Then the... read more

Great prices on selected wines and beers for happy hour. Cheapest in town. We chose to stay for a filet dinner. Cooked perfectly. We shared the entrée since we were not real hungry. The chef sliced the filet to make it easier for the sharing. Nice atmosphere.

This is a casual bistro with spectacular food and excellent service. Our waiter was French and had only been in the country for a month. He came "looking for an adventure". We had a Calabrian sausage with grilled scammers appetizer which was delicious. The pasta with rabbit, olive and thyme was one of the best things I have ever eaten.... More

I've been here twice now and I loved it both times. I went with my mum before seeing the Lion King production and for my dads birthday and both times were great. When I was going before the show we talked to one of the waiters about not wanting to miss the show because of the wait for food and... More

Last Saturday my daughter and I had an 8:30 pm show to go to in Melbourne. We were just walking around looking for a bite before the show and stumbled across Yak. Wow, were we lucky. The restaurant was busy but the host (owner?) was super efficient and got us seated in about 5 minutes. There were plenty of folks... More

Had breakfast here one morning. The toast was burnt and didn't have any butter on the pieces. The eggs had no taste and the bacon was two massive hunks of meat which I couldn't cut with the provided butter knife. When I did final have some it just tasted like salt. When it came time to pay I had to... More

Can't fault one single thing about the food. Very short menu. Simple, honest delightful food of exceptional quality and cooked to perfection. The wagyu beef flank was outstanding, the roast duck perfect, the ravioli was crammed full of flavour, the Italian wine - marvellous, the espresso martinis are dangerously yummy. chocolate tart was magnificent. Very busy and loud place -... More

Went there with no booking for a quick dinner before the football. They were only too happy to accommodate us. Lovely atmosphere & wonderful staff who made us very welcomed. The food was divine. Highly recommend & can't wait to go back

Very small restaurant, had to wait for seating but sooo worth it! The host was very helpful and polite and helped us order as we are not familiar with Italian dishes. We weren't disappointed! A very nice meal, we shared each others plates to try everything from pizza to lasagne. Well done on service guys!!
