Whilst staying in Melbourne my wife and I decided to visit this restaurant one evening for a meal. I was wanting some wagyu beef for supper without paying astronomical prices. We had the set meal for 2 @ $45 each and weren't disappointed in any way. The various wagyu meats were perfect. Grade 9. A novel experience of cooking your... More

We wanted to go to the Rice Paper Scissors but they close on Sunday. My son recommended Takumi which is a short walk away on Bourke Street. I was in Australia for 9 days and Takumi provided my family the the best dining experience during our stay in the country. The staff are all very polite, friendly and efficient. The... More

It's only getting 3 stars and not 2 because of the good steaks they have. We came in on a Sunday night and was quickly seated when we told them we had a booking that night. Just as we got seated, the manager had to deal with a customer who had issued with getting his table sorted. After the manager... More

An early dinner prior to a show and pleasantly surprised. The menu was interesting and varied and the service was just right. We enjoyed a mix of house dishes and grilling our own seafood. Very happy with the quality and choice of food and a pleasant surprise at the bill when leaving as it was great value. Whilst we had... More

Had a great experience dining here with two other friends. We went for ala carte instead of the usual sets as we wanted to sample the highest grades of wagyu that they had to offer this enabled us to also use our entertainment voucher for the restaurant. Having just been to Rockpool the night before and paying much much more... More

Came here with friends for the All you can eat Wagyu special. Had to be out by 7:15pm which was fine. At this exact time we were sorting the bill out. Thought I could use my entertainment card because it says in the book that it is valid for set menus and specials and does not say 'unless otherwise stated'.... More

Was very interesting dinner, we rocked up expecting to order a steak and eat with the usual utensils but found out differently while sitting at the bar waiting for our meal and well it was one of our most fond memories of melbourne and is always a story we tell people about when we talk about our melbourne trip. would... I was on my own on a work trip in Melbourne and wanted to explore some of the restaurants Melbourne is famed for. While walking, Takumi caught my eye as it promised contemporary Japanese (grilled) cuisine. Here's my feedback on the experience: I entered the restaurant and was greeted by a waitress who seemed reluctant to have me dine there.... More

We had the tofu and seaweed appetizer, and squid (mentai ika) and sea snails, which were delicious. We were two couples and had six portions of wagyu amongst us. The highlight is the charcoal barbecue. We loved that it is charcoal and not gas as in other restaurants, as charcoal leaves a smoky, ashy, natural flavor (in my opinion -... More
