Il Tempo means Its The Right Time.... To visit us and experience our casual Italian cafe with the friendliest, most courteous staff in Melbourne. Established in 2000 and conveniently located in Degraves Street, just across from Flinders Street Station. Whether you choose to dine outside (Alfresco) or inside the European style bistro, Il Tempo cannot be beaten for authentic Italian cuisine, reasonable prices and a fun ambience. Yes, the cozy, dimly lit atmosphere makes it difficult to want to leave and head home after dinner, but luckily, we are opened late.. So we suggest you sit back and relax and slowly sip that wonderful Chianti from our extensive wine list. Or maybe we will tempt you with one of our famous desserts...

Hearty Breakfast

We were looking for a breakfast place and didn't wanted fast food (no offence to Hungry Jacks, Mac, Subway etc). We chance upon this charming cafe at the Campbell Arcade and decided have our breakfast here. Nice ambience, cool temperature, nice Latte (one of the best we had during this trip) and... read more

We dropped in to this little gem late on Saturday night for a coffee and we were all delighted at how good the coffee was and how excellent the service. If we'd discovered this earlier, we most likely would have tried a meal - but as it was we caught them close to closing time we haven't had the chance.... More

Service was prompt, coffee and hot choc were luke warm but better the second time of being remade. The eggs were pretty bland and the mushrooms were cold by the time we got them. Not a place I would go back to for brekkie anyway!

Went to Il Tempo for lunch today... it seems from all the other reviews that they might provide a much better dinner than lunch, because it was very disappointing. The portions were tiny and overpriced, the pasta was under-cooked, and this is an ITALIAN restaurant!! You really need to be nailing things like pasta. The caprese salad was a tomato... More

I thought the service was fantastic. asked and promptly received. Also the owner or front of house worked tirelessly to please everyone. people patted him on the back as we left. food was delicious and fresh. menu somewhat limited but suited our needs. wine was great. no complaints

We came here on a Sunday night when the Moomba Festival was on so we were happy to get a table for a group of us. We sat outside so that we could enjoy the evening air and people watch while we ate. We were offered garlic bread to start and our meal order taken. Well our meals turned up... More

The service and food were terrible. Horrible coffee which the waitress spilt. The scrambled eggs were inedible. The waitress leaned over my plate of food whilst I was eating to clear my coffee cup. It was bad enough that she leaned over my plate of food, to add insult to the situation, she didn't even say excuse me. First time... More

We tried the place today, Staff was just not interested in serving us. After 15 minutes without being asked for drinks or food we left. The restaurant was basically empty, five other tables were taken. So can't be the overly busy staff. Good that there was a way better restaurant just on the other side of the alley... Can't recommend... More

Friends suggested Il Tempo in Degraves Lane as a perfect place for a catch up and it turned out to be a great choice. The menu offered something for everyone in our party - from fish, to pasta and pizza. We selected a Pinot grit from the wine list because there was some issue with their supplier which limited the... Stopped here a for quick breakfast. Was about the only place on Degraves Street I could get a seat at. Food was good, coffee was excellent. Staff were friendly. I'd definitely go back!!
