Il Tempo means Its The Right Time.... To visit us and experience our casual Italian cafe with the friendliest, most courteous staff in Melbourne. Established in 2000 and conveniently located in Degraves Street, just across from Flinders Street Station. Whether you choose to dine outside (Alfresco) or inside the European style bistro, Il Tempo cannot be beaten for authentic Italian cuisine, reasonable prices and a fun ambience. Yes, the cozy, dimly lit atmosphere makes it difficult to want to leave and head home after dinner, but luckily, we are opened late.. So we suggest you sit back and relax and slowly sip that wonderful Chianti from our extensive wine list. Or maybe we will tempt you with one of our famous desserts...

Quick Breakfast Stop

Stopped here a for quick breakfast. Was about the only place on Degraves Street I could get a seat at. Food was good, coffee was excellent. Staff were friendly. I'd definitely go back!!

Great breakfast. Bloody Mary was 7/10 and great. Benedict and omelette super tasty. Even better value for money if you have an Entertainment Card. Great find.

Went here as rated in Tripadviser... But not over the moon about food. Was tasty but not incredibly flavoursome. I had gnocchi with veal, was quite heavy with little sauce. Others a risotto which he said was ok, a penne dish and a beef ... Can't remember what it was called as not that memorable. Would probably choose elsewhere again...... More

We always eat at Il Tempo whenever we visit Melbourne and our last visit was a terrible disappointment! The menu seems to have shrunk, prices increased, the staff are disinterested at best, the food is just average. Ordered lasagne and marinara and both were ok. Desserts were interesting - I had the dessert of the day which turned out to... More

They make the best creamiest coffee we have ever had anywhere! A must try! The staff were very friendly and if only for the coffee I hoghly recommend a visit.

Just a wonderful experience - visited for the 2nd time last night - excellent advice/service, attention to detail, food fabulous. This is not an "upper class" restaurant but a relaxed atmosphere - a place I will continue to visit

Seven of us had booked for dinner and as we were allocated a table on the mezzanine level (indoors) and the restaurant wasn't busy we did not feel crowded (which can be a problem in Degraves Street). We had main courses -- duck, pork, fish, pasta -- with green salads, and all were reasonably good. The recommended wine was suitable.... More

The fish was tasty but so small it was a starter size. The only way to know it was a main was the price of $31! The pasta was tasty but had to hunt for the bolognaise sauce.

This is a more than adequate breakfast option (among many dozens in the area). Service was polite and efficient, food good but nothing exceptional. Not really sure why some of the Tripadvisor reviews are so gushy.Does have a big plus in slightly more spacious seating arrangements than some of the other eateries in Degraves Street.
