Description: Il Tempo means Its The Right Time.... To visit us and experience our casual Italian cafe with the friendliest, most courteous staff in Melbourne. Established in 2000 and conveniently located in Degraves Street, just across from Flinders Street Station. Whether you choose to dine outside (Alfresco) or inside the European style bistro, Il Tempo cannot be beaten for authentic Italian cuisine, reasonable prices and a fun ambience. Yes, the cozy, dimly lit atmosphere makes it difficult to want to leave and head home after dinner, but luckily, we are opened late.. So we suggest you sit back and relax and slowly sip that wonderful Chianti from our extensive wine list. Or maybe we will tempt you with one of our famous desserts...

We landed before Melbourne had actually properly awoken (@5.30am) and made our way to the city to get our early morning coffee. Surprisingly, the city coffee trade doesn't necessarily start this early but by the time we reached the CBD the weary owners were putting out their tables and chairs. Two cafes told us they were not readying to come... More

I was travelling on my own for business, and changed upon this delightful restaurant. The service was great, the pasta and salad delicious and the location in Degraves St is hard to beat. Degraves St is a must-visit spot for foodies, and I am looking forward to trying the other restaurants in the vicinity on future visits.

If you are in Melbourne, a breakfast in the lane is a must. We arrived to very cold weather so a table inside was also a must. We were greeted and taken to the mezzanine overlooking the lane. Perfect and warm. We had a variety of dishes but the highlights were the porridge and the Tasmanian Eggs Benedict The hollandaise... More

We were very sorry we had settled in and ordered before we noticed an Italian eatery across the way that was offering a (lunchtime) pasta and glass of wine for $19. I was with a friend, but several times in the past my partner and I had enjoyed special offers at Il Tempo at lunchtime. No such deals anymore! And... More

Busy, so be early or be patient. Worth the wait either way - the service from the seating until the bill is extremely efficient & all aspects very friendly. The food is also very tasty from the variety of options available. If sitting outside, the only downside is the inconsiderate smokers who choose to share their chronic obstructive pulmonary disease... More

After wandering around the laneways in the area on a Sunday night, we decided to return to Il Tempo, after previously walking past. Admittedly, there weren't many eateries open, being a Sunday night, but this did seem to be popular with few empty tables, so that's always a good sign. Restaurant had a lovely, cosy atmosphere & was busy (unlike... More

Busy when we arrived on a Sunday night but didn't have to wait long for a table to free up. Service was quick and staff efficient. Entrees arrived fast and tasty. Steak main was cooked perfectly but the other diners main (spaghetti carbonara) was quite dry and a little disappointing. Would probably eat there again if the opportunity arose.
