Tasty food but get in quick for a seat

My initial visit was when Mamasita had just opened and found it to be average so tried again recently. The food is tasty but nothing to rave about. To be honest you could go to any Mexican take away shop and get a similar quality. Price is pretty good however, with a soft drink, a couple of shared... read more

We had the $25 set menu for a quick lunch, sounded good on paper but the serving sizes were too small for the amount of people we had, and it was quite a bland menu, corn chips, corn on the cob, a couple of slithers of belly, salad were all bland and not bouncing with flavour as you would expect.... The food tasted excellent but the portions were quite small, so it adds up once you buy a few. One fish meal had two sizes and I ordered the smaller one which came in a shot glass! It was quite comical at the time. I highly recommend the chorizo quesadilla though.

I met a group of friends here for lunch recently. I made a reservation and the friendly manager got back to me with a special request for low seats and a high chair. The food was excellent, staff attentive and friendly and atmosphere great too. We all thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. We were amazed at how quickly the restaurant filled... More

Worth the wait in line for some of the best Mexican this side of the equator. Tacos galore and loads of starters too.

This was our second visit to Mamasita and what a difference seven years and a trip to Mexico makes. The queues are still there but maybe the hype isn't so frantic, we got a table (bench seating) at 5.45 pm on a Thursday night. The place was pumping and the service was attentive. We were excited to see tamarind margaritas... More

Four of us visited for lunch and really enjoyed ourselves. So often Mexican food in Australia is very formula - you can guess 90% of the menu before you go in. Mamasitas has the favourites but has a lot of surprises as well. The Tostaditas were lovely little mouthfuls. The giant prawns were great as was the octopus and the... More

Talked into a jug of margaritas to kick the night off and never looked back! Great Mexican food and an interesting wine list.

A friend and I put Mamasita on our "must visit" list for our Melbourne trip after all the hype but unfortunately were sorely disappointed. The cocktails were delicious but the food was seriously average and expensive. Hate to say but I wouldn't visit again.

yes, its true you have to queue up, but its worth the wait, or go around 9pm (Sat night) and you will get in straight away. The food is really good, a twist on Mexican. Funky feel, polite waitstaff and don't have to wait long for food - you must try it!
