Tasty traditional Mexican

My wife and I visited with 2 friends. Arrived at 7, had a wait of approx 40 min (bookings can only be made for 8 or more pers) - well worth the wait! We ordered a selection of tacos (pork, prawn, vege), tostadas (goat, chicken) and mains (beef rib and green chicken). All dishes were very tasty with... read more

When I have a day off I eagerly await the instagram post of what the $5 taco of the day is. The instagram account really encourages me to spend my day off there . The ones I have had have always made me wonder why they aren't permanently on the menu.ie the pigs head one was AMAZING and the pork... More

One of our favourite haunts in Melbourne, has a lovely, balanced menu with lots of great meat and fish dishes. Perfect for big banquet style dinners with a lot of people (the mains make great share food), or a tapas style dinner for two (tacos, ceviche, etc). Cocktails are a little pricey but the Bloody Maria is fantastic, and they... More

Cool low key to hang out with my lovely wife. Looked after by James (best waiter in Melbourne) corn is so good, things with Tequila in are also good.

Mamasita never disappoints. The food is always fresh, with a magnificent combination of flavours to make you keep ordering more! I highly recommend any of the dishes on offer, but make sure you try the corn. With a cheesy topping and hint of chili this dish is guaranteed satisfaction. A wide variety of margaritas to suit every taste. The service... More

At 7pm we got a table straight away and sat at the bar. Our waiter was fabulous as well as his knowledge of tequila. Great food flavours. Highly recommend.

Long time this place on my must visit list for authentic mex flavours. After short queue (no booking policy) obliging staff had us seated & starters out within minutes! Concise if not limited choice but no detours on flavours. Friend who loves Mexican street food disappointed on lack of variety with beans & fish. Staff super-normal, groove & overall satisfied 👍

It was ok - tasty but small and expensive. If you are from Mexico or North America, this will not impress you or satisfy your craving for Mexican food. It's a typical Australian tapas restaurant trying to do something they aren't good at. I'd pass...

Haven't been here in over 4 years and it is still amazing! Spent about $125 for two people, so, just keep that in mind. Obviously due to the price, it's not a place that we would frequent regularly but once every few years is fine :-)

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
