Have been to this hotel a few times on previous Melbourne visits but have never eaten here. A friendly environment with a good selection of beers and wines and an excellent menu. We had swordfish and it was excellent A very enjoyable experience and as others have stated a little bit of England in Melbourne.

Close to where I was staying so it was convenient. Not expecting too much, this place was a nice surprise. Huge selection of beers and very nice menu with a good deal of variety. My meal was very tasty, the surroundings pleasant and the staff were genuinely friendly. Very nice.

Just a few steps off Collins Street to a little bit of England. A good range of English beers on tap(I had Old Speckled Hen and Hobgoblin). Friendly , cheerful staff and service. Good ,well priced pub food- BIG helpings and quite delicious food. Only a small place but with great ambience and atmosphere. A very comfortable haven on a... More

A small basement pub that has some warm atmosphere, a great selection of beers, and an attitude that says you are part of the family. When I visited they called many of the customers by name and gave a CBD pub a homely feel. Several people had meals when we were leaving and they looked and smelt wonderful. I am... More

We chanced upon this place a few years ago while visiting Melbourne and we return on every visit. There is no imposing street frontage, just a little doorway with an old looking sign above - we were curious what was down those stairs and just had to go and investigate. What a great pub hidden downstairs and such a great... More

A friendly pub with good atmosphere located in the CBD of Melbourne on Collins street. Look out for he narrow doorway entrance to the steps and underground location. Food and beer were both good and after several visits over the past few years seems very consistent. Definitely worth a try if you are looking for that "pie & pint" evening.

I was walking along Collins Street, solo, as I began to get hungry and craving a good pint of beer. I saw Sherlock Holmes and decided to give them a try! They are located below ground floor, so it's much cooler down there on hot days! The first thing I noticed was how neat the place looked inside. Very inviting... More

Hoped to enjoy a dinner close to our hotel after a long day on the plane. It was 8pm and we were told that the kitchen closed early because it was a quiet night. Two people waiting behind us were told the same thing. Yet, looking around, every table was full with people and plates. Quite disappointing to be told... More

A cozy and intimate pub to have a pint, try the Sherlock Reserve Lager. Good portioned pub meals, nothing fancy but simply delicious. The atmosphere is great, very victorian English especially in the bar area. The seating in the restaurant area is a bit too close together but it's still a wonderful place to dine in.

$20 for a steak cooked to my liking...what more can I say? Top marks for a great meal. Highly recommend!
