I was walking along Collins Street, solo, as I began to get hungry and craving a good pint of beer. I saw Sherlock Holmes and decided to give them a try! They are located below ground floor, so it's much cooler down there on hot days! The first thing I noticed was how neat the place looked inside. Very inviting... More

Hoped to enjoy a dinner close to our hotel after a long day on the plane. It was 8pm and we were told that the kitchen closed early because it was a quiet night. Two people waiting behind us were told the same thing. Yet, looking around, every table was full with people and plates. Quite disappointing to be told... More

A cozy and intimate pub to have a pint, try the Sherlock Reserve Lager. Good portioned pub meals, nothing fancy but simply delicious. The atmosphere is great, very victorian English especially in the bar area. The seating in the restaurant area is a bit too close together but it's still a wonderful place to dine in.

$20 for a steak cooked to my liking...what more can I say? Top marks for a great meal. Highly recommend!

Walked in on spec and was not disappointed. Great food large serves and must be the best salt & pepper squid I have ever had. A must for lunch.

We recently enjoyed dinner here and were not disappointed. At first it was a little strange, not knowing the ordering process. You place your order at the bar, then grab a table number and find your own seat. When your food is up, it will be delivered by a server. Be sure to take your own silverware, napkins and salt... Last night at Melbourne, walking to this restaurant not knowing this is a restaurant, down to basement and find a different ambience, it just like you really entering the home of Sherlock Holmes, they even had a story board about some Sherlock Holmes story at the wall around the stairs.. Food was good and fair price. Big portion also :)... More

The pub's web page is not at all misleading. It conjures up the sense of a very traditional, English style pub with homely food and good beer - a place with character and laughter. I was not disappointed. As I entered the basement entrance, I was transported back to the UK - err... the UK before the yuppie pubs, I... More

Business trip in Melbourne, some locals pointed us to this place and the Mitre Tavern. Sherlock is down stairs in a basement giving it an authentic old English pub atmosphere. It was full of locals, but we were treated very well as Americans. They welcomed us and we had a blast. All red brick and stone walls really added to... More

It was a Tuesday evening when we got to SH. We walked right in the midst of a Tuesday Night Trivia which was probably why it was crowded on a week night. The trivia is held every Tues from 6.30 pm to 8.45 pm. and most of the patrons whom we saw were middle aged were engrossed in the game.... More
