We sat outside this rather lovely restaurant in the very busy and cafe packed area, yet felt rather private being in Cardigan Place looking across at the other side. The food was lovely but a little more expensive, however the service and general high quality of the food of it made up a lot for the slight 'bill shock'. I... More

We had lunch at this restuarant and opted for the lunch special which was two courses with a glass of wine for $35. We shared the poached egg entree and then each had a serve of duck confit with a wonderful sidesalad of beetroot, fetta and walnuts. I then had the dessert of warm doughnuts to myself. We both really... More

Went on a Wednesday night with a couple of friends who regularly dine there. They had raved about Lord Cardigan so naturally I was sceptical. We dine out a lot and were expecting the usual standard of a mid-market Melbourne restaurant, ie: quality Australian ingredients, nicely prepared and served by pseudo-friendly people. Our jaded approach was in for a jolt.... More

Went for simple meal and ended up paying about $62.50 pp which included a glass of alcohol, main, coffee, shared side order and shared dessert. Not your ordinary simple meal but Australia is not the cheapest place to eat out. The main is nearly $40! Wow. The service from the gentleman is great. The ambience lovely as this is not... More

I do not know why there were only three other tables occupied for Sunday lunch at this very good small and friendly restaurant.

We went for a family occasion chosen from the reputation and the fact my husband dined there a couple of times previously However our family experience did not live up to the expectation and was a great disappointment Our entrees were very good all round but there was a considerable wait. Our mains followed after an unacceptable longer wait Two... More

Ventured to the Lord Cardigan recently and was ecstatic with the dinning experience with friends. The food was of the highest quality from the house baked break to the St Helen's oysters and the to die for duck and vegetable pie . It was fresh, tasty and wonderfully presented. The wine list was spot on we tried a Margaret River... More

The waitresses were very friendly and seemed to genuinely enjoy being there; rare for any restaurant! The food was perhaps a limited selection but interesting. The hickory smoked duck was a particular standout, as was the pannacotta for afters. I'm unsure why Lord Cardigan isn't higher up in the TripAdvisor rankings, but it sure should be. Highly recommended.
