Next to the Supper Club in Spring Street. Plenty of wines to choose from, either bottle or just a glass. Yummy menu if eating in or maybe a bowl of olives on the way to the Theatre or dinner elsewhere. Visit regularly when staying in Melbourne. Staff are friendly and helpful. Good prices and variety. Love sitting outside and people... More

City Wine Shop is not just a shop or a wine bar, but a great place for a lunch, pre-dinner (or theatre) drink, but also, as we have found, a great place for dinner. Food is creative but simple and not overly complicated so complements, rather than dominates your choice of wine. Meals are also moderately priced. The wine selection... More

We stumbled on the City Wine Shop on our weekend getaway to Melbourne. And we were glad we did. Staff very friendly and engaging, knowledgable with their wines. We sat at the bar and watched the staff work, must say a very professional crew. Had some tasty ight snacks along with the (few) glasses of wine we had. Enjoyed the... More

On two recent visits to Melbourne (one solo and one with a colleague), I've eaten at the City Wine Shop. It's got a great location on the edge of the CBD and is within easy walking distance of several of the CBD hotels. I really liked it on both visits--the first visit, I sat outside on the small deck; the... More

Had a quick glass of wine outside and the Ploughman's plate- basic but very tasty indeed. It was a mystery glass of white, which the waiter discussed with me - friendly tone and nice chatty manner. I loved this place!

Myself and a friend stopped here for a glass of wine and a small bite to eat.. Wine list was exceptional, staff very friendly and accommodating.. The food was perfect! I recommend the oysters to everybody!! Delicious! It's a small venue, but with an excellent atmosphere.. Will definitely return.

We stumbled on this wine bar, near the Princess Theatre, and returned for dinner to a packed house. Good food, great wines by the glass, and better by the bottle at a good price. The wine list changes but greatly enjoyed the Pellegrino Fine Rubio Marsala (dessert wine). Being seated outside was not a problem however thankfully the person smoking... More

Linked to the European Restaurant this is a good place for a glass of wine or a few and good food. The place has atmosphere with wine decked walls. It is a bar and not a full service restaurant but well worth a visit. Enjoyable.

Another great few hours spent in this Melbourne institution. Tried several Italian and French reds; all delicious. I find it amazing that grapes like sauvignon blanc, trebbiano and chenin blanc are so great in Old World wines but average or undrinkable here. Also enjoyed a charcuterie board snack and the terrific polenta chips. We always visit here when we come... More
