A good spot for a sip of wine

One thing about City wine shop that got my attention was the expansive selection of wine to drink or take home. The display wall is quirky with prices written in chalk with no rhyme or reason or how they came up with the prices which seem a random set of numbers.i.e 42, 73, 51 etc. plenty of... read more

Wandering around looking for a place to eat and it looked interesting.A very lucky choice.Fascinating array of wines from all over the world at very reasonable prices. Terrific food ranging from tapas style to main courses. The staff are very knowledgeable and make excellent suggestions within the price parameters. Eating is either at the bar or on as shared long... More

Another visit to a great place. The wine is nice and the staff know what they are talking about. Friday nights are always busy so our group met last Thursday for 'Bon voyage' drinks. Had dinner there as well; delicious meals and as usual a friendly atmosphere. Never disappointed!

There is a good selection of beer and wine to be had here. You can enjoy some cheese and bar food or dig into the wholesome food they have to offer. Every dish I've had here has been great and the deserts are good as well. Would recommend for a date, family, or out of town folk (business or friends).

The name suggests is a simple wine bar but nothing could be further from the truth. The Wine Bar does everything exceptionally well, a great daily list of wines by the glass, an amazing selection of wines for sale or to drink in house, quality food list and great staff who know their wine and how to look after you.... We had lunch here before attending a performance at the Princess Theatre (virtually next door). Wonderful wine selection, and amazing tasty food. We sat outside, as it was a great day, but inside there was seating at the bar and a huge communal table. Highly recommended

We called in here for recuperation after an exhausting morning at the Zoo with our young grandchildren. Some excellent wine (a particularly lovely French white Burgundy) provided the immediate revival, and the some very tasty sharing plates completed the process. Add in great service from lovely, friendly staff, and you have a perfect package for casual refreshment.

This is everything I look for and expect from a seriously good wine bar in the city. The wine selection is second to none, the bar itself is rustic in a very urban sort of way and the clientele a wonderfully mixed bunch. Not cheap but something of a hidden haven in a city bursting with über cool drinking establishments.

It's great inside. The location itself is on the edge of the city grid with the free Melbourne circle tram running past here. The service was ok rather than fast, but friendly enough. Topped up water etc. The coffee was good but took 15 mins to arrive
