Just goes to show that TripAdvisor isn't everything. The restaurant was really busy and staff rushed off their feet - too few maybe? Service was haphazard at best and there was a half hour wait for the wine to turn up. Food was OK. Generally all a bit disappointing.

Went here for lunch with friends and we thoroughly enjoyed all elements. Service was very good, the menu was interesting and varied, wine list was quite varied, and best of all the food was superb. The environment for lunch (and I assume, dinner) is away from the open doorway that seems to service the coffee crowd, and was quiet and... More

Service was terrible, food was average and expensive. They gave us two wrongly ordered items which we had to correct. We ordered two items off the kids menu which were the last items to arrive, the spaghetti & meatballs came without the meatballs. Once we let them know they took the dish & we waited a further 20minutes for a... More

Went for lunch with a work group, very good service from the moment we entered to the moment we left. All 7 meals were excellent and that's coming from a few real chefs in the table. Well done Smolt, keep it up.

We were celebrating our anniversary, but this is not the place for a romantic evening. Food was quite good; arancini were wonderful as an entree; zucchini flowers stuffed with salmon were quite good; salmon was ok; lamb was good. However, the service was terrible. I don't know what was wrong with us, but we seemed to be in a black... More

I visited Hobart over the past week and enjoyed Smolt so much that I returned on 4 occasions... First visit was a great experience - a solo dinner with a seat looking over the Square during twilight. Lots of people watching, great service, wonderful food (the gnocchi was divine) and a wine list filled with some of my favourite wines.... More

Great wine and food. Only problem is it prevents me from exploring other restaurants as it is so good. Very accommodating staff.

Lively, happening place in Hobart. Loud crowd, seems to be a party place. Way too much food, all very good. The chicken liver pate with mango salsa truly divine. But by the time all of the entrees had been finished, I was full. The main courses with the lamb and the chicken was good. Could have been the complete meal.

We landed in Hobart and headed to Smolt! Sunday afternoon...crowded....great vibe (except for the sreaming kid having a tanti but his dad soon whisked him off so mum could enjoy her coffee)....lamb pizza fabulous and veg ..radish peas with goats cheese...amazing...great first meal in the apple isle! Coffee was excellent and worth having after my usual midday cutoff for caffine......
