I have eaten here multiple times over the last few years. Food has always been good. While the food has remained a pillar, the only down side I have found has been how loud it can get and the lack of intimacy. I have found this in many places - just a personal dislike - some people love the louder... More

A great meal enhanced by excellent customer focussed service. Our waiter suggested an open menu where we paid $45 per head and we enjoyed a variety of wonderful dishes beautifully presented. All complimented by great wine in a pleasant environment. My second time at Smolt and I will return. Recommended.

A Friday night and Smolt was very busy. My friends and I enjoyed a fantastic meal which was thoughtfully presented and very tasty. Once again the service was excellent and the staff very friendly. Even in turning people away they did it all very well. Fantastic once again and this should be a must do it at least once kind... More

Located in the restaurant and bar square off Salamanca Place, Smolt is a loud and bustling restaurant, with a great selection of food and wine. There is something to suit everyone's tastes, which makes it the perfect place for almost every occasion.

We do enjoy great food. Unfortunately, the food we ate at Smolt was just bland. Our friends had booked the restaurant and the atmosphere was lovely, but the food was simply average cafe fare. I was disappointed in the tastes - they offered none of the things I used to love about the food in Tassie when I lived there.... More

Visited Smolt with a friend and we each had hot chocolates. The hot chocolates consisted of freshly melted chocolate and tasted simply divine! The best hot chocolate I've ever had!

Unfortunately the group was quite tired after a full day but staff were friendly enough. We started with pizzas to share absolutely divine followed by mains of which we all chose something different. I unfortunately chose fish of the day which was Dory in a divine sauce with fried potatoes, calamari and octopus. Of 4 squares of fish 3 were overcooked... More

We went for dinner with a friend (local of Hobart), who recommended this as somewhere to go. The location is really good, right in the city centre and even though it was a Saturday night we managed to get a seat at one of the shared tables. We started with the oysters (excellent) and then a couple of pasta dishes... More
