Points: Lunch, no prior booking, friendly greeting, shown to a table promptly. Given water and bread which is a nice touch. Unfortunately, having our order taken was a little difficult. Lovely staff, just not enough of them I think. Moving on, great food. That duck breast was probably the best lunch I have had in recent times. I might add... More

This place has a combination of Italian and Spanish food, lots of small plates but also pizzas, pasta as well. We had spanish crocquetes and aranci balls, both excellent, followed by seafood pasta, and washed down with a good local red. Can highly recomend.

Sat inside for breakfast. Cool place with groove music. Had to wait 15 mins to get served. Add 25 minutes for coffees to come and close to an hour for breakfast to be served. And the place just wasn't that busy. Pity. It could be so much better.

Approached a staff member to see if a table of 5 was available, the response I got was "like I said to other bloke half an hour ago... I don't have one". First and last time I'll go back there, and I'm local!

We had an afternoon snack at the Smolt Restaurant in Salamanca Square on the waterfront in Hobart. We started wit very tasty olives. We ordered the squid in tomato sauce, an old Spanish recipe, with toasted ciabatta from the small afternoon list. What a surprize! The squid was out of this world, extremely tasty, and the bread was perfect for... More

Even though we live in Hobart, this was our first visit to Smolt and we will be back. Our daughter who is a vegetarian selected the restaurant and I am a non seafood eater but there was plenty of choice for both of us. The restaurant was quite busy but we had a booking so no problem getting our table.... More

It's been there a while now but every time we go I'm amazed at the quality and presentation of the various dishes on offer. It's become somewhat of an institution and being located in popular Slamanca Square means just about any visitor will inevitably walk past. Don't do that though. Make a reservation and enjoy some of the best food... More

One of my favourite restaurants in Hobart with a great menu, excellent service and wine list. Recommend you make a reservation as it popular.

We have been here a couple of times since relocating from Melbourne. I am always suspicious of restaurants in tourist precincts as they have the image and shtick but rarely deliver and/or are overpriced. And this is definitely the case here, it like going to Southbank for a meal; only for the uninitiated. There are much better places in Hobart... More

I visited here with friends from interstate. Hot Chocolates are really good. I'm usually a coffee drinker but now whenever visiting Smolt I'll be going the Hot Chocolate. Warm milk poured over good quality chocolate buds. Not too sweet. Every time I visit there is an older lady serving who has the loveliest temperament. Will return.
