Amazing food with attention to detail at every step. Fabulous service by super friendly staff. Just the right amount of fancy. Cheaper eats (in the form of pizza and pasta), but spend a little more and be blown away by what their chefs can really do. I haven't been able to stop thinking about this place since we ate here.... Bustling with happy people, as it should be given the food and vibrant ambiance! The salmon with multiple Rebs and multiple herbs was terrific! Adequate if a bit pricey wine list.

The location is good and first impressions on entering the restaurant are that of a lively bustling venue, even on a Wednesday evening. The food was great. My wife had natural oysters followed by 'catch of the day, fish. I had arancini followed by beef cheeks. All course were delicious and aided by an excellent Tasmanian point noir. It was... More

Good Restaurant. Can't fault it. Stand out from the others - maybe not. Need to book cause saw lots of people turn away. We had an all seafood meal so had a great taste of the local cuisine. If you are in that part of town drop in. Did not try their pasta dish cause not keen to have heavy... More

In Hobart for one night, dropped in for dinner without pre-booking and were greeted with wonderful service the moment we opened the door, which continued throughout. Homemade bread delicious, although one piece each was not enough! The wood fired pizza was pretty good too with interesting combinations. All in all a quick enjoyable meal, with efficient service. Probably not somewhere... More

Fabulous food with terrific service and appropriate pricing. Went last minute-they squeezed us in despite being very busy, they were very attentive. Loved the arancini/leek balls the most.

We went on a Friday night and enjoyed ourselves. Their home made crusty bread was delicious dipped in quality olive oil. For entree we had the mixed oysters. They were very nice and very fresh. For mains we had the mussels fettuccine, it was al dente and tasty and not over powered by garlic like most restaurants. The venison was... More

Smolt is located in the historic Salamanca precinct of Hobart and is one of the few restaurants that I dine at regularly with family and friends and that I recommend to visitors. On the Spanish/Italian inspired menu you will find locally sourced seafoods, meat, dairy and vegetables prepared in interesting and truly delicious ways. It does a terrific breakfast -... More

Had a girls night out at Smolt. Great atmosphere, great food and good wine choices. Reasonable prices for the quality offered. Will definitely dine here again.

This restaurant was recommended by several people, so I arrived with high expectations. We arrived too late for breakfast so had to wait 30 minutes before we could order lunch, we ordered a drink each and sat there, almost abandoned, waiting until midday. This happened to several tables and we all looked a little bored waiting to order. Once the... More
