You absolutely have to take a walk up to Battery Point and partake of morning or afternoon tea - the cakes are to die for. I have to admit we visited a few times and would have gone back had we had more time. The savouries looked amazing as well. Fantastic service, amazing food and great location. We'll be back!

We were recommended to this place by friends. We luckily got a table within 10 minutes. It was a busy, sunny Sunday morning. The coffee was excellent. I graduated from a latte to a macchiato. But the breakfast was unreal. The homemade jam was the thing I remember the most. It was crowded, we had to wait, but us and... More

On my walk around Battery Point I was drawn to a shopfront crammed with diners and counter shoppers. I'd never seen anything like it. Gourmet food combinations on display for breakfast, brunch and lunch. Pastries, rolls, sandwiches, frittata all featuring chunky blends of vegetables and meats befriended by sauces and spreads. Each serve prepared to a recipe that made their... More

As newcomers to Tasmania some weeks ago, we ventured into the city to find a patisserie/cafe in the CBD. We came across Jackman & McRoss in Victoria Street. Had no idea of their reputation, nor had ever heard of them. My husband ordered his double shot espresso which arrived along with my chai latte. He picked up the cup to... More

This cafe became my family's "regular" on out short trip staying in Battery Point. Amazing coffee, great food and you need to try the relish!

Only problem with Jackman & McRoss is that it is always crowded. It is has fantastic food & coffee and a fun atmosphere. I ate here once, as it is great for groups and not so much for single folks like myself.

Had read all the positive reviews and was looking forward to a great breakfast. The staff were very pleasant and informed us that they could not deviate from listed menu( one of our party was gluten intolerant and vegetarian) so a side of mushies with poached eggs was not a possibility. I had one of the daily specials and others... More

This is a very busy little cafe in Battery Point (they have 2 more in the CBD and at New Town). The coffee is great but the food is fabulous! The menu changes all the time with a good range of really innovative light dishes and some fantastic sweet tarts and cakes. We had the smoked flathead fillets on danish... More

Every time I stay in Hobart (about 20 times over the last five years), I always have breakfast here. This quaint little bakery is set in a quiet side street and offers the best selection of sweet and savoury breakfast treats. Many of the breakfast meals are pre-prepared and are simply re-heated, but nevertheless, the food always tastes full of... More

My parents don't eat out much; and on the rare occasion that one of us kids do take them out, they're often hard to please. Between the two of them, they nitpick about taste, cost, and wait time. I took them to Jackman and McRoss for breakfast this morning, and they really enjoyed it! The food was good. Decent serving,... More
