This cafe/bakery came with great recommendations and we were not disappointed. The coffee was so good you have to have that second cup. The food was yum and the friendly staff made us feel welcome!

I LOVE THIS PLACE! how often do you see delicious looking food in a cafe window only to feel let down by the taste? The food here looks amazing and tastes as good - sometimes even better - as it looks. I travel to Hobart often and at least one trip to Jackman and McRoss is a must. I can... More

I have always liked Jackman & McRoss Bakeries - both New Town and Hampden Rd, Battery Point. After a few years between food - from living interstate - there has been no change in the quality. Good coffee and food. A must try are the beautiful gourmet pies! You can't go wrong with one of these.

Recommended by a friend, I was very pleased with my scrambled eggs wrapped in smoked salmon on brioche breakfast (accompanied by dressed rocket). I think it was $11 which is SO incredibly cheap compared to Melbourne breakfasts! But, not only was the price good, the taste was really good too! The service was what you'd expect in a Bakery, pleasant... More

This is the first time we feel let down by the recommendations of our TA brethren. Contrary to the majority of the reviews, breakfast at Jackman and McRoss was a disappointment for us. We visited Jackman & McRoss (the one at Hampden Rd, Battery Point) on a Sunday morning, and there were only 5 or 6 empty tables – normally... More

After living here for two years I can safely say that this place sell the best bread in Hobart. This is where the locals go. The sourdoughs are amazing and they have a wide range of them. This is how bread is supposed to be. I drive 20 min. Every week just to get their bread. Are you a tourist?... More

Take a walk around Battery Point, enjoy the views, see the sights, tackles the hills and then reward yourself with brunch or lunch and a coffee here. The food was very good - we split a sandwich and a quiche - and a big selection on the menu and on the specials. The coffee good and the atmosphere is nice... More

Tried to go today after recommendation from a work colleague... But, after hiking up the stairs/hill, discovered it is closed until 31 July... So disappointed, was really looking forward to a great pie!!

They do have several other stores in Hobart, but we kept returning to the one in Battery Point. They have a rather impressive range of sweets and savoury foods for you to eat-in or takeaway, but note they charge slightly more for eat-in. They also serve up a pretty nice coffee for those who like a good one. It can... More
