Great restaurnt for downtown Moonah

Haven't been here for a while but was not disappointed. Called in for an impromptu lunch. Had the large sushi/sashimi plate. Loved the raw sashimi. Not particularly fond of the highly coloured vegetarian sushi. The restaurant is now licensed serving a good selection of Japanese beer. Service... read more

For a neighbourhood restaurant it was very busy for a Monday lunch. There is plenty of parking behind the shopping complex in which the restaurant sits. The food, service and value exceeded our expectations and we will definitely make this a regular haunt. Indy our waitress assisted us in making our menu choices so we felt we didn't miss out... My boyfriend and I got a bento box each to take away. It was huge! The tempura vegetables were delicious, sushi was fresh and soft. The homemade dim sim was delicious. I will definitely be back to eat in or for a take away meal

The latest eating out at Kawasemi was rather average. Bento box offerings were a lot of over fried and over seasoned morsels. A previously excellent chirashi zushi has been removed from menu and should go back on with the large elegant plate as it was a highlight. There seemed to be a new menu and it's just not as good.... My friend and I have been working our way through every Japanese restaurant in Hobart. Kawasemi was the last on our list It is out of town a little bit, in Moonah but getting there was remarkably easy (I was scared I would get lost) and there is plenty of parking in a large public car park out back just... This little japanese restaurant is tucked away in a small shopping arcade in Moonah, a part of Hobart not usually where you'd look for a speciality place. As we were in the area we decided to give lunch a go and were very pleasantly surprised, both by the food and the prices. For a Monday, there place was pretty full... More

I quite often pick up takeaways for lunch from Kawasemi, dined in for dinner for the first time last night with my partner and a friend. We all had different bento boxes and each was great! The desserts looked really nice but we were far too full to try, great value for around $20-25 too.

This charming little place is hidden away in an arcade in Moonah, of all places. It's well worth the trek. We dined in a biggish group (ten or so people). My friend and I shared the chicken yakitori skewers as an entree, three good sized and beautifully flavoured sticks of chicken thigh meat. I had tempura as a main, a... More

Yet another wonderful meal at this restaurant. Large variety of Japanese dishes. Love that it is BYO, and such lovely staff. Great Value.
