Excellent food, great service

We ate here on a visit to Hobart based on Trip Advisor reviews. It was great! We had a problem with the wine, but it was resolved by management without fuss. Apart from delicious entrees and mains, they showed Pyengana cheese on the menu. i asked whether this was the famous 2-year-old cheese. The... read more

We visited on Sat 9th May for dinner and had made a booking which I would recommend as it was full. The restaurant is in an old house and the rooms are still original which gives it a great rustic feel. We sat next to an open fire which was very cosy. My boyfriend and I shared the pork belly... Sitting by a log fire, great way to have a meal . I had chicken and it was to die for, the staff very efficient , caring and very pleasant. Not too expensive worth every penny.

From the moment we walked in and discovered the open fire radiating the warmth we craved after the freezing temperature outside (snow fell on Mt Wellington most of the day) we loved this restaurant. Next delight was the excellent quality glasses, a sure indicator of a restaurant that takes itself seriously. Everything was perfect from then on - interesting menu,... More

I booked a table for two online before our trip to Hobart. The restaurant is located in an old house, which was warm and inviting on the cold night we dined there. We sat in a side room with three other tables, which was fine, however one of the other diners had quite a loud voice which dominated the room.... More

Went for the tasting menu and it was worth every penny, which is saying a lot from us. :) The combination of food was creative and clever. The portions were a bit big for me but I insisted on finishing every bit of food because they were just too good. Absolute must-try place in Hobart!

The concierge at our hotel advised us that Monty's was widely considered one of the top restaurants in Hobart so we felt fortunate to get a reservation during our short stay there. We walked away disappointed for several reasons. First, the server was highly inattentive. He was French, handsome and charming, but he was also missing in action for long... More

I called in mid week and was seated quickly as it was mostly empty. I chose the lamb rump which came with leeks.. the chef was happy to remove them from the dish due to my allergy and replaced them with peas. Cauliflower curried almonds.. very tasty but not great value. Unlimited sparkling water on tap is g re at... More

We were fortunate enough to dine at Monty’s on Montpelier during a recent visit to Hobart. The entire experience was absolutely fantastic. We were struggling to decide on which dishes to order as they all looked wonderful. Our lovely waitress made some suggestions and we could not have been more impressed with the dishes. Incredibly tasty meals with ingredients cleverly... More
