A great place for occasions and work dinners. Emphasis on food and wines and an appropriate atmosphere. You need to know where it is - not an obvious street front.

Our dinner here was fantastic! Dining as a group of three we managed to order most of the menu and sample each others dinner. The beef cheeks were melt in your mouth delicious, the fish cooked perfectly and the pork divine! I even ordered brussel sprouts and found them heavenly. The service was attentive but not overbearing. Can't wait to... More

The service was great, shame about the food - did the tasting menu and was very disappointed, didn't really like any of the courses, except the dessert.

The restaurant is in a great location - right next to Hobart's trendiest precinct, Salamanca. It is very cosy, seating only a few tables with a private room available for booking. The menu tends to be very limited. However, this is typical of good restaurants and is in no way a criticism. I've had the salmon, pumpkin soup, wild clover... More

We enjoyed a wonderful meal. The lamb was tender and the pear tart was delicious. The service was great, the staff were happy to move us when I requested a table nearer to the fire.

The food here is beyond great. The lamb and fish, and apps and dessert, where to start. The Tasmanian Pinot's are among the world's best and go perfect with the lamb. Just too far from New Jersey.

Everything from service, ambience, wines and of course the food was excellent. We did the 6 courses with matching wines and just thought it was so well done.

We really want to like Monty's, we really do! The service was great, the menu was tasty and interesting and did it's best to showcase Tasmania's cuisine and wine. Oysters for Entrée, then lamb and the beef cheek for main which was all great. However, they had both fires roaring inside which made it almost unbearably hot. We would totally... More

Great atmosphere sitting by the fire. Wine was nice. Service was impercable. The pork was tough and chewy would have been nicer sliced . The beef cheeks were very fatty and ruined my meal. The salad was overdone in olive oil. Wouldn't go back. Disappointed because it's not cheap.
