Intimate dining just up from Salamanca Place

Monty's serves really interesting food in a small but broad ranging selection. It was the kind of meal where you discover salted grapes for example Yum! The service was excellent and attentive. Month's is situated on Hobart's Battery Point and only a short walk from our accommodation on Salamanca Place. The restaurant is in a converted 19th century house. We took the easy way and chose the two course menu package with matching wines. My mate started with the battered oysters and I had the oysters natural. The were beautiful sweet and... More

Everything was good about this restaurant. The staff were efficient and friendly, the food was excellent. I haven't eaten mutton for a long time but Monty's re- introduced me to the subtle flavours of this meat combined with delicious home made gnocchi and goats curd. The wines by the glass were excellent and whilst I didn't have enough room for... More

Delicious meal of fresh produce. 6 of us ordered different dishes, all perfectly prepared and served. Wine recommended was just right. We were alone in a private room (not requested) which was perfect. We thought the price was right - with 2 bottles of very good local Pinot and 2 courses each, $95 a head. Perfect start to our weekend.

We visited Hobart and wanted a romantic great dinner for two. We could not have asked for better food or service! Great location and a classy venue. Our only suggestion is that for a fine dining venue, such as this, some effort could be placed into the garden out front rather than the dead grass and few plants that currently... More

We took the visiting Commissioners conference members to Monty's in December and had the most wonderful experience. Excellent food, friendly and efficient staff topped off with a very good wine list. I would recommend visitors and local people visit this restaurant and enjoy Hobart at it's best, well done. We will be using this restaurant on a regular basis from... More

Monty's was indeed a pleasant surprise, we weren't sure what a quirky house restaurant would serve up but by the time dessert came around we were all super impressed. The $65 for 3 courses is amazing value and the food is clean, well balanced with beautiful flavours. The setting in the house is very cool. Well done guys, I will... More

We had a wonderful dinner at Monty's - the ambience was lovely, the staff are superb and the food was excellent. We had 3 courses for $65 and for the standard of food we thought this was very good value. Our waiter (Daniel) was wonderful, friendly and attentive with a great knowledge of the wine list - he recommended a... More

I booked this place for a friend's birthday dinner whilst visiting Hobart. I was really excited about the menu and their focus on locally sourced food. Unfortunately, we were a little disappointed. As we were in Tassie, we wanted to pick a local pinot noir - the cheapest pinot was over $70 a bottle which is quite a high price... More
