Eat here and not accross the square

We were browsing the menu's of the breakfast places in the square and I had already seen this restaurant recommended on TripAdvisor , but my wife wanted baked beans for breeky. Big mistake we went to the rendevous and were very disapointed. However we wanted breeky again a couple of days later and... read more

Machine's busy and boisterous cafe is just about the liveliest place in town on a Sunday. Probably because the no fuss, no drama decor makes for a carefree atmosphere filled with foodies, kiddos, hipsters, and travellers... All there for one thing: healing portions of flavourful food. Breakfast is a must here! Try the savoury pancakes- so tasty! Enjoy.

This place doesn't look flash, but don't let this put you off. The food is really, really tasty and the portions are large. I recommend the caramelised onion pancakes. Just yummy and very filling — very good for a cool morning or before going for a hike. Also, the coffee is very good, and I am picky!

This cafe/laundry has been operating in Hobart for probably 17 plus years. Consistently good food and service. Most recent breakfast we had pancetta and parmesan pancakes ans also smoked salmon/scrambled eggs. Pancakes were brilliant. If you are a tourist or a yacthie, then you can get all your laundry done while you are having breakfast. Yeh, i know it sounds... More

No wonder this place has great reviews! I myself searched the web for best place for breakfast in Hobart and this place did not disappoint. It's a casual and cozy environment that seems to attract the local hipsters-probably due to being part of an actual laundry/cafe! The food was slightly different but so tastey! They still offer the general eggs... More

We visited the Machine Laundry Cafe after good recommendations from friends. We were not disappointed. The place had a real vibe about it. This business has a laundry mat attached to the cafe which is very convenient for tourists. There were plenty of customers on a weekday which is always a good sign. I ordered the poached eggs and avocado... More

Good options for a sustaining breakfast served by friendly staff in a cool location. Colour is dominant on the plates making it look good as well as taste good. I chose the porridge with blueberries. Wished I'd had the cornbread, beans and greens. There's a range of newspapers, comfy furniture and lots of light which made for a great start... More

Machine Laundry Cafe has a very suburban Melbourne feel to it. It's quirky, understated and comfortable. The food is a little hipstery, but not pretentiously so. A little more tasting by the chef before the menu is confirmed wouldn't go astray, however. My meal, although great on paper needed salt (and I'm certainly not a salt fiend), and it definitely... The cafe was busy but service was good. We sat inside as it was a chilly morning. The eggs, toast and mushrooms were delicious and well cooked and the Pidgeon Hole sourdough great. Coffee was also good...not milky and not bitter like many places! This was our first visit here and would definitely return The prices were reasonable and similar... More
