We booked for 6pm and the restaurant was packed. The food was delicious, the staff very attentive but I found the decor a little overwhelming. I would certainly recommend going to The Drunken Admiral

Dined at the Drunken Admiral whilst on holiday in Hobart. Food was essentially over-priced 'pub grub'. Decor & service were overwhelming to the point we felt a little uncomfortable. Our coats still smelt of cooking oil from the chips etc. from the restaurant the next day & needed airing. Wouldn't recommend.

Was looking forward to dinner at the Drunken Admiral however walked away slightly disappointed. The restaurant itself is well set out with lots of memorabilia. The highlight for mine was the Seafood Chowder, it was delicious, I had an entree size to start the meal which was the highlight of the night. For main I had the grilled flathead. The... More

Great family restaurant especially if you can get seated in a little room. Not fine dining but good food with great service. A must if you're visiting Hobart

What a wonderful place - the interior is a must for anyone interested in all things maritime. The meal we had was wonderful from a wonderful, thick and rich seafood chowder to sultans wok pot full of prawns, scallops in a bed or rice with a sauce not unlike green curry.

My wife and I had to go to Hobart for a specialist medical appointment, so we both decided to have an evening meal at the restaurant. The scallops Kilpatrick, seafood chowder, fisherman mixed grill and fish of the day were excellent. The wait staff were very attentive & very willing to assist us with our choices.

Table of 8. Would not vary menu in any way...eg mash instead salad. Most expensive ..the steak .. so-so! Been there..done that. .won't be back. Service was good.

We ate at this restaurant 3 of our days in Hobart. After all, Hobart is about sea-food, and this is some of the best around. Reservations are essential. The oysters are terrific, and I had grilled flathead that was sensational. Also I thought the servings were large. Friendly place with efficient service. If you arte Australian, you won't mind the... The Drunken Admiral is a well located and interesting restaurant with - naturally enough - a strong seafood menu. I hosted a group of six last week and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening - service was a little patchy but acceptable; food was fine, although not outstanding. The seafood mixed grill was a favourite among the group, with everyone... More

The Seafood Chowder was brilliant in this cosy verging on cramped below decks Piraty restaurant. Poor choice of Tasmanian beers. The Fish of the Day - Blue Eyed Trevalla was $41.95- way too steep. We were show into a nook with two tables . Very cosy until the staff brought in 3 adults with three little kids. Sorry but No!... More
