One of Hobart's iconic restaurants and is popular with both locals and visitors to Hobart alike. We are a family run restaurant and we have been operating since 1979 offering the diner a truly unique experience and very fresh and tasty Tassie seafood and meals. The restaurant is world renowned, features in many global travel guides and is always popular – so reservations are advised! Open 7 days a week with parking out front.

We had read a number of mixed reviews in relation to the Drunken Admiral, to say we were disappointed is an understatement. The food is basic and overpriced, to top it off the food was cold when delivered to our table......my advice is don't bother going, the theming and memorabilia in the resturant is not worth the disappointment of the... We ordered the Sydney to Hobart meal, two people shared dish for $116.-. You really expect something incredible for that. It was enough for two people, but the food presented was a selection of normal everyday seafood, a handful of oysters and some octopus. The fries resembled those served at McDonalds minus the salt. It was NOT worth $58 per person!!!... More

We are locals and have eaten here many times. It is a theme restaurant. The meals were ok! We do not think this restaurant adequately presents our beautiful tassie fish to its best. Fish and chips were fine, but at over $34? And the smoked fish stew at $38 - come on. It was a bowl of superheated smoked paprika... More

Hubby and I went and were blown away with the quality. Alcohol is a bit expensive and the meals definitely aren't cheap but we've put it on the to do list everytime we go to Hobart. Definitely recommend making a booking because even on a Thursday they are fully booked out for dinner by 6pm but just wow. Absolutely worth... More

Had the Fishermans Basket and himself the Crumbed Prawns. Small servings with a mountain of undercooked chips for both meals, putting me to think I was at the Golden Arches or Hungrey Jacks. Some good chunky hand cut chips may have redeemed both dishes. Basic salad (an extra) was plentiful and nice and fresh. Meals were presented as an average... More

Great atmosphere, but really just fried seafood out of the box, worth a look but only once. Maybe I missed something with the place.

Thoroughly enjoyed an evening at the Drunken Admiral. Glad I booked as the restaurant was full with people waiting at the bar for a spare table. My wife and I shared the Sydney to Hobart Seafood Platter, a variety of cold and hot seafood. The oysters, smoked fish and octopus were exceptional. So much delicious seafood accompanied by a good... If you're seeking a big seafood meal at a fair price, head to the Drunken Admiral. Featuring a predominantly seafood menu (of course) as well as a respectable wine list, you'll dine amongst maritime themed memorabilia in a rowdy, fun atmosphere. Meal service was remarkably fast for the seafood platter ordered and customer service prompt and friendly. Food was of... More
