Stopped in for lunch after arriving in Hobart. Place was well presented with energetic service staff. We all enjoyed our food and drinks. Well presented food. The wife found the sweetness of the sugared pistachios in the cous cous too sweet for the dish, I however enjoyed eating them once she was done.

Food and coffee were delicious. A cool little cafe on a side-street in the city. We were walking past and decided to go in for a coffee before we left for the airport. But the food looked and smelt so good that we had a quick bite to eat. The cinnamon salted caramel waffles were delicious as was the unusual... More

My boyfriend and I visited for brunch last week and were very impressed with the meal and the quick and friendly service - a lovely way to end a holiday. We were bemused at the difficulty in finding a cafe open before 8am on a Saturday morning in Hobart, so when we did find Criterion St Cafe I asked how... More

A return to an old haunt - sadly not as great - it wasn't particularly busy and I was only in for a quick coffee. I sat own in the corner while staff chatted to someone sitting at a bar stool and waited ... grabbed the paper and read it ... and waited. It was obvious while the conversation was... More

Being in Hobart for a week, I had googgled to find places with bio food. The criterion was one of them. I was not disappointed. The cafe is located in a smaller street, close the busy ones but quiet. The first impression coming in is of a cafe with a simple, relax and agreeable atmosphere (bright colors, somewhat possible to... More

I'd walked past here many times and it always seemed popular. Finally had a chance to call in for lunch, but only had 40 mins. I was greeted straight away and asked to take a seat. Only a short wait later a staff member came over with a menu and took my drink order. A short time after that my... More

We have really enjoyed it here the last two times we visited. Friendly service and the coffee and cakes were top quality. Seems like a really busy cafe!

This is a great place to have an amazing coffee and choice of cake/muffin/brownie or breakfast (small but good range including eggs, porridge etc), lunch (paninis etc) and/or a beer. Great service, food and prices. And a good choice of seating, inside or out on a small but not too busy side street.

This small cafe has improved heaps since changing hands - the menu has grown and the service improved under the new management - more attentive and menu options. The coffee is great as is the menu choices for vegetarian and meat lovers alike. It has a communal table in the middle but other seating available around the perimeter and outside.... More

Stopped in this place for a light bite to eat for lunch. Downstairs was full so asked if we should head upstairs which is what we did. Found a table for two without any issues. Waitress came and asked for our order- a beer, chicken sandwich and halloumi salad. The menu was small but lived up to its description of... More
