Pop up dining pleasure

Cafe by day a and by night? This spot turns itself into a pop up pleasure experience. The menu changes but is fresh and innovative . We enjoyed ourselves .. Only down sides is the wine list. Far too expensive for a cafe and lacks the opportunity to make the most of local Tassie wines.

First, the food is really very good; I loved my lamb sandwich today and my wife's pulled pork and savoury pancakes were excellent. Also nice cakes. Staff are very pleasant and food service was quick. Prices are on the cheap side. However, the coffee was only ok, coffee service was very slow and the music was way too loud (very... More

During the day there is excellent coffee and cake and fine service to be enjoyed at the Criterion Street cafe. This summer there was an additional treat - two young chefs (one Italian and the other experienced there) took over the restaurant and produced a brilliantly innovative and balanced tasting menu that was offered on Sunday and Monday nights. Let's... More

We stopped in for a quick lunch, found a table upstairs in the small area there is and service was ok. We ordered a chicken sandwich, hippy chickpea and 2 homemade lemonades. The menu promised a herb and lemon roasted free range chicken sandwich with aioli and greens. We aren't sure what happened to that roasted chicken with herb and... More

We ate here on Monday night at the new dinner pop up titled "Fun Dining". As the title suggests it was a fun, casual atmosphere with the friendly professional service that the cafe is renowned for. More so however, the food by far exceeded our expectations and totally blew us away ! The menu was a simple list of eight... More

I come back to this little café week by week due to my favourite meal. The lamb Sandwich. Although people roll there eyes and say its just a sandwich.... go try it! The homemade relish and mayo is amazing! The staff are friendly and always provide good service. I'll be back for that sandwich! The café is also bright and... More

This extension of the very popular Criterion St Café brings a pop-up element to Sunday and Monday evenings with a couple of well-credentialed chefs producing some interesting shared plates. Monday evening was busy - the upstairs section noisy with guests talking loudly to be heard. The noise level is seriously intrusive. The space is not all that welcoming - concrete... More

I had breakfast here while on a recent visit to Hobart and it's excellent. Delicious food, especially loved the poached eggs on sourdough. Good coffee and friendly staff top off a great breakfast experience. Highly recommended.

Maybe not exactly my budget, but when I stayed across the road I could not resist coming back for breakfast my second morning here. Not only was the coffee excellent and the service prompt with a smile the aptly named Faulty Towers breakfast with raw veggies and salad with a poached egg was unbeatable. Highly original and other diners quickly... More

Always has a creative menu, impeccably prepared food. Very tasty and flavoursome. A lovely vibe, although can be very noisy on the inside, particularly upstairs, as it's all concrete. (Please add some cushions etc to soak up the sound as its seriously loud up there!!!)
