Having settled right into Tasmanian traditions we arrived at the restaurant at about 5:30 and found Harry minding their new addition. After chatting for a short while we took up our usual table at the window and Sambal and dip arrived simultaneously. I quaffed a really nice Indian Lager called Maharaneh while my wife enjoyed the Sambal. Harry brought our... More

amazing food! Delicious flavors! If you're looking at impressing clients, or a first date this probably isn't the place..... But.... If you want to be served on by a family business/restaurant wanting to blow your mind and mouth with flavors of their home country then this is definitely the place to be! The best Indian in Hobart!

If you are after a fine dining experience this is not it. It is however the best Indian I have had and continually go back week after week. The Tali plate is a great option and always leftovers for lunch. BYO and beautiful garlic and cheese naan. A favourite.

Before I start, I really need to emphasise how yummy the food is here. I've been to the Taj Palace probably half a dozen times and the food really is unbelievable yummy. So it's with affection and humour that I say the service here really is quite hilariously bad - think of Fawlty Towers x10. So on my last visit,... More

I am not usually one to complain on Tripadvisor but unfortunately I feel my experience at this restaurant warrants it. We ordered take away for a group of 6 people. After being told that the meal would be 45 minutes, we went to pick it up and then had to wait a further 50 minutes for the meal. Three of... More

Service was a little slow but apart from that, everything else was fantastic. My husband says that people would come from India to eat here.

Consistently good - service, atmosphere and most importantly the food. Particularly the Tandoori lamb chops!

Like in all the other profession chef's have their days too.. feel sorry when someone gets it tuff on their tummy though...but it could be due to many things.. Indian food is filled with Turmeric which is a powerful anti-inflammatory.. ginger is a stimulant and digestive aid.. garlic have proven benefits against infections and cancers. and many spices which include... I tried a couple of their mains with rice and Naan recently from the takeaway section. Upon entering the small and grotty looking store I reflected upon my decision to eat from there, but ended up thinking 'why not I'm sure it's o.k' I took the meal home and ate portions from both mains and the rice and Naan's. The... More
