My Partner and I were lucky enough to get a last minute reservation at the restaurant which we both count it as the best meal we have had, a true experience. We have also dinned at ‘The source’ restaurant at mona and found Garagise 100 times better. The atmosphere was relaxed and casual making the focus on the food and... More

I feel like perhaps my palate is just not refined enough for Garagiste-type affairs. I went with friends, who had made the reservation, and we had the 5 course tasting menu. I can't really say that I loved any of it, except for maybe the ice cream at the end. I wasn't wowed by any of the dishes, I wanted... More

We went on a freezing Hobart evening and that may have influenced the initial impact this stark grey room had upon me. It wasn't too cold inside but it did take a long time to warm up. The degustation menu offered choices within two of the courses so we made sure we had two of each to sample everything. No... More

The food & service here at Garagistes in Hobart are excellent. You can even book now. Communal tables don't suit everyone so best you know. The menu is degustation and the time between courses can lag a bit. Ours was a five-course menu and it took around two and a half hours.

Took some friends to dinner last night after visiting last year and being very impressed. We were hoping that we hadn't built up the last visit in our minds to be something that they couldn't match, but the team did not disappoint! We took the option for the set menu with the matching Sake. Our waiter provided an explanation of... More

Upon the chance recommendation of a friend, we ventured to this restaurant based solely on Jeremy's comment "best dinner I've ever had". Well, for us it was certainly up there. The perfectly matched flavours made each of the five courses a gastronomic delight. The prawns were sensational. The dessert was the perfect ending to a meal that could only be... More

The food was exceptional and the wine list was very comprehensive. We loved everything about this. My boyfriend and I went for dinner after it was highly recommended to us. We were so impressed with the venue, menu and beverages. Communal tables are not a problem, and can actually be quite entertaining. The only downside to our evening this time... More

Can not fault the food and wine/sake - it was delicious and a great experience as I had never been to a degustation. What I was disappointed in was the atmosphere and how the tables were set up. I really do not like sitting at shared tables and for the price you pay there nor should we have to. The... More

Extremely contemporary food with an outstanding wine/sake list. Flavor profiles were off the charts, but with 30 minutes between courses its something to endure.

I was so looking forward to a great degustation ,especially after having Garagistes recommended by local foodies. It may have been the night, the menu not "on song", the shared tables, the dark, unfriendly atmosphere, the hand basins outside the toilets, very close to our table.. But we didn't think it rated at all! If it wasn't for our lovely... More
