Ate here last night while our daughter had a school play on, so needed to get in and out reasonably quickly. Started with the mezze which was nice and went on to share the pizza special (pear, brie, white anchovy, prosciutto and pesto). Death by Chocolate for dessert went down well, especially with our 4 year old son. Hats off... More

Found this suggestion on TA and as it was nearby out hotel, we gave it a try. What a pleasurable experience! From the moment we walked in, the welcoming smiles closely followed by an excellent meal, attentive service and very good wine choices. The food was unexpectedly good and well priced. Thank you to Paul and the team.

The place seems to be very popular with the locals (there is a trivia night every Wednesday) but it did not quite deliver for us. My marinara was particularly disappointing - the dish was generous in portion but was dominated by chorizo sausage, the pasta was poorly cooked and drenched in oil. Not value for money.

Five of us decided to do lunch here. I had the calamari salad. Couldn't fault it. I asked for no fried noodles & that wasn't a problem. Another had the specials pizza - absolutely beautiful (I tried it). Another had a burger. He soon devoured that with a heap of chips. And the other two had the prawn risotto. Both... More

We walked in early without booking and just as well. The place soon filled up. Staff were friendly and efficient. Our meals were well presented and tasty. The place has great atmosphere and we were lucky enough to sit down near the fire which was very pleasant on a cold wet night. There was a range of clientele which I... More

My dining mate & I started off with Trio of Dips w Woodfired Flat Bread - $15.50. The dips were nice but not great & the herbs used on the flat bread was a bit overpowering for the beetroot/capscicum flavours of the dips. It was a substantial start to our meal although I think the price is a bit "up... More

We visited this pub for trivia and dinner while visiting Hobart. The food was reasonably priced and yummy. The trivia was great - though we did feel a bit out of place in a sea of locals. The owner was affable and spent time visiting with patrons at the bar throughout the night. We would recommend this pub to anyone... More

Dined here not long ago on a trip to Hobart and left feeling quite full and fed, but a little disappointed on a couple of points. First of all, the place looks and feels great - we were greeted and seated promptly (and by the warm fire) and the service was quite good: attentive, friendly but also casual. Now, the... More

The Duke has great food at reasonable prices. The staff are lovely and want to help in any way. I would definitely eat here again.

What a surprise! Tried The Duke for a working lunch and lived the ambience with the open fire. The choice of lunch dishes was vast and offered great value for money. The food was delicious, the coffee was divine and the service was friendly. Highly recommended!
