Good mains except the salmon on the sashimi smelt off (complained but no response apart from that the waiter would pass the message on); excellent creative deserts; quick service BUT the initial conversation of 'you MUST order 2 courses each (which we were supposed to have been told at booking but... read more

This restaurant is consistently great - I can't pick a favourite meal - every dish is as good as the next! I went to sit outside one evening waiting for a cab & one of the staff came running out with a cushion for me - now that was seriously unexpected & a nice touch!

I love the sushi at this place and the atmosphere is really cool! They have a great selection of sushi on the menu including a full bar with really awesome drinks, wine and beer. My only complaint is the wine pours were a little on the small side, but not too bad. Looking forward to returning soon!

For our meal at Kenji we both decided to indulge in the five course Degustation menu. So pleased we did! The Zensai (appetiser) consisted of six amazing little mouthfuls delivered to the table with explanation of each by Kenji himself. All were fresh and incredibly well balanced by each other. Delicious! Tuna tataki with Kingfish sashimi was next, served with... More

Greeted by a friendly waitress who was doing just fine, but as soon as I asked for a vegan menu, the head waitress (who was trying to appear friendly but with a condescending tone - you know the kind) swooped in, as if to "keep the situation under control". Followed by the shaky start was the overly salty vegan bento... More

Lovely Oysters, Puffer fish and beef Tataki (lovely), Sashimi was a chunky. Mains were all good as were the deserts. Service was good but inconsistent as the restaurant filled.Glass of wine forgotten and when arrived was the wrong red (lovely , but amazingly the slightly more expensive one). Does this restaurant represent good value? Probably not!

We've had our ups and downs in Japaneses restaurants in Adelaide, and our first experience here meant Kenji jumped straight to the top of our favourites list. The food was stunning - we dined with 3 vegetarians who were raving about the 'box' they got. So interesting, so beyond the 'usual' selections, and perfect amount of variety and flavour. My... More

I think our obsession with food has driven many Chefs to create complex and overly clever food. Not at Kenji. Innovative yes but the essence of Japanese minimalist cuisine shines through delicious, fresh, beautifully presented dishes. The Fuamori was a delectable selection including sushimi, nigiri sushi and lip smacking oysters. We followed with Zensai, a platter of seasonal morsels that... More

No bookings but were able to be squeezed in for an early sitting. Strongly suggest making a reservation to avoid disappointment. I heard it was 'modern' Japanese and this is hard to define although perhaps 'Asian fusion' is a good coverall. The Pork and Duck dishes were spectacular and the service was delightful. And professional.
