Amaing classic French style cooking

Came here for lunch with a friend. I like to order dishes with out-of-the ordinary sauces, this tends to reveal the chef's expertise for me. I liked the warm cosy atmosphere and friendly staff who greet you with "bon jour". I had a morish quiche and salad that had melt in your mouth light pastry and light vegetable filling. It is licenced and I was tempted to have a glass of wine but it was lunctime! Great prices, our lunch $12.50 !!

This is a great place. The staff are exceptional as is the food. I personally love their soups and sandwiches although the omelet is pretty good as well. Fantastic friendly atmosphere and a lovely experience overall. You will have to book though!

We were looking at the menu outside when a patron came out and told us that she could highly recommend this place and we certainly were not disappointed. Small little restaurant but has a good array of food and wines. We were there Saturday lunchtime and most of the tables were reserved, so I would recommend booking before going. It... More

Hidden amongst the shops at Burnside Village shopping centre is a cosy French gem which serves up some amazing tucker. There were four of us who took the opportunity of visiting this café which is not very big but gets very full very quickly surprisingly even for dinner on a Friday. We had an entrée each followed by a main... More

Went for a lunch with a girlfriend for her birthday and we would have been the youngest there. Think they cater for the older generation. They forgot our food, until I noticed others getting food who came in after us. Yes they apologised, but no compensation i.e. giving us a glass of bubbles on the house and we still had... More

We love this restaurant and often visit for lunch and dinner. The food has never disappointed and the service is warm and friendly. Some of our favourites include the French onion soup, the duck a l'orange and the crème brulee. If you go be sure to start your meal with a Kir Royale! Highly recommended.

Toasted smoked salmon, caper and boiled egg sandwich and a bottle of sparkling water. What could go wrong! Plenty - the toast was stale and soggy. The filling was minimal. The $9 bottle of sparkling water was 'still'. I have been going to this restaurant for many years. This was a bad experience. The staff did the right thing and... More

We dinned once again at Bistro France .. this time on 13th February. Dinner was immaculate and delicious. Kir Royal to start, Onion Soup and Pate great entrees. The Flathead special was wonderful The Almond coating a nice touch. The Duck in orange sauce was awesome and the Beavouis for dessert was light and fluffy. All tasted wonderful.

A busy shopping centre is an unusual location for a French bistro - but here it is, hiding in plain view, surrounded by dress and kitchen shops. Bistro France is obviously a favourite with the locals however, as it was well patronised on a recent Thursday evening when we visited. Not hard to see why - French inspired menu and... More
