Frequently go to East Taste. It's the place to go for a quick, cheap eat, any time of the week (that rhyme was not on purpose - but it's catchy, yes?) Best salt and pepper tofu, BBC and shallot pancakes. My partner and i always eat vegetarian there, because they have plenty to choose from.

This is a great place if you are into speed eating! The food was fine and the prices were reasonable but I felt like it was almost an inconvenience us being there. We kept being asked if we were ready to order even though it was clear we were still looking at the menu. When we did order our entrees... More

The food here is amazing - lots to choose from and very tasty. Their service is extremely fast and you really don't have to wait very long after ordering to receive quality food. This is one of the very few places on Gouger St that is open late even on weekdays. I have been here several times, both with a... More

Myself and four girlfriends went for dinner here before our fringe show on the 16th march. I was pleasantly surprised at how flavorful the food was considering that the menu options were quite well priced. For the 5 of us it was $136 including a bottle of wine and entrees to share. The only thing that I could fault is... More

There is no shortage of competition in Adelaide's Chinatown/Gouger St precinct and perhaps that's why our first visit was so impressive. This is not fine dining but it is very friendly, there is evident passion about what they do and the food was very good, especially the shallot cake and crispy beef. A return visit is definately on the agenda.

Have been here quite a few times over the last few years, I work in hospitality so one of the few that are open after mid night to get takeaway etc. Since they had their 'renovations' and new paint done they have increased their prices, the food quality has gone down and they charge you for stupid things. Asked for... More

The restaurant itself is clean and staff are polite on the surface. However the waiter started to annoy me. We were a group of 5 friends enjoying our drinks and were debating on a final dish. I get we were probably annoying but the waitress started to get visibly annoyed and rolling her eyes at us. It wasn't a good... More

Like every other Adelaidean that likes a good nosh, I have my tried & tested favourites, and on Gouger St there are plenty to choose from. For me, East Taste is where you go to eat with a small group, say 6 people or less, who are all up for not only a fine feast, but great friendly service as... More

I was immediately struck by how friendly and helpful the service was here. As is my custom, I was dining reasonably late, so can't comment on how the service translates when the restaurant is busy, but our waiter (potentially the owner?) was so passionate about the food, explained how dishes were cooked, made recommendations, and proposed changes to dishes to... East Taste is probably my favourite Chinatown restaurant. We eat there every couple of weeks. Great prices, fast service, and delicious food. Try the salt and pepper eggplant, mapo tofu, shallot pancake, BBC, green beans with garlic & chilli... the list goes on!
