The Sweatshop closed down around the end of 2013. A new cafe called Yumma Mia's has commenced trading in the old Sweatshop building. It's a place where adults can go for quality food at very reasonable prices and are able to sit at comfortable tables and chairs like adults should.

Wow this place had the best home made jaffles, juices in jam jars and just a really funky decoration scheme happening. It was modern yet edgy at the same time, the uniqueness and the fun and great food made this as have to eat at on my dining list when I am up north.

Good first date place. The menus got some cool things to try and they have board games and cards lying around the place if things turn a little awkward. Well priced and a bit classier than taking her to subway or whatever else is on the flinders strip.

Food was ok, service was not the best, decor strange. Has good rep for jaffles, but they are only average. Overall, bit of a let down.

Went here for lunch a few days ago and got take away jaffles for lunch. Both myself and my wife had the mince with chutney and peas and they were really tasty although somewhat small. It was quite busy as we were there in the lunch hour so we waited maybe 25 mins. Decor is funky with a bit of... More

As locals, we go to the Sweatshop quite often - our most frequently visited cafe in town. You NEED to order Jaffles. That's what the place is renowned for and for good reason. And plus they're only $7! They have tonnes of options and all the ones we've tried are great. I'm a vegetarian and I recommend the Sweet P... More

Brilliant cup of coffee and my breakfast jaffle was great, very tasty. Love the decor and the funky tunes and friendly staff. It does take a while for the kitchen to get the food out though which is the only disappointing aspect. Seriously the best cup of coffee I've ever had in Townsville

A really cool, artistic little café with excellent breakfast and lunch options. We gathered that the people who work in 'The Sweatshop' are mostly artists and creative types and they did the funky artwork on the walls, some of which are also for sale. For food, we recommend the burgers and freshly-squeezed juices. There's also an extensive, interesting jaffle menu... More

The coffee and muesli were good - service was a bit slow on the day so maybe an extra staff would help. Overall a great place to just chill out on a Sunday morning (as they are now open early yay!), there were a few families playing board games and having fun. They have some funky artwork on the walls... More

I come down here all the time to get away from the office and work and it's great. Free wifi, good tunes and great food and drink make the sweatshOp a great place to hang. Try the Americana burger, any of the jaffles and the spider or milo frappe! Sweets are amazing too.
