Beautiful food and lovely atmosphere!

The food here was to die for! The chefs are creative with tastes and the food was presented beautifully. The service was friendly and helpful but unassuming (i.e. the waiters were not constantly pestering you like they do in some places). My partner and I dined at Watergate a couple times during our stay in Port Douglas. The bar menu of tapas was fantastic and one of the best for quality and value for money in town. The service was fantastic both times and attentive. The location is beautiful and does feel like we are secluded from the main street. We... More

After visiting we can see why the rating for this restaurant is so good. Without the meet and greet on the street it would be very easy to miss but once inside the surroundings are first class. Tucked back off the main street it feels special and secluded. We opted for the chef's specials of the day and had a... More

The restaurant is tucked back off the main street and is softly lit with restrained decor. The Directors Chairs were a bit low and uncomfortable. The waitress was French and attentive without but not over-present. But it's the food that is the winner here (though we didn't have enough room to try the desserts as the portions are generous. We... More

As with most restaurants in Port Douglas the price was on the high side but the ambience and food were excellent. Amusing Argentinian waiter added to the experience and he was very attentive to our needs. 2000 kms from home and bumped into some neighbours there - extraordinary!

Service was fantastic. Our waiter was attentive & very friendly. The food was a major let down. There was 6 of us in the group, 3 had the prawn linguine and only 1 person really enjoyed their meal. The other 2 prawn linguine's were like they were from a complete different restaurant, prawns were overcooked and the dish was not... More

After searching for a suitable restaurant to celebrate our marriage wee sendup choosing watergate, as we are based in canberra most of the communication was done via email. Dealing with riccardo was one of the easiest aspects of our planning. We changed guest numbers a few times and requested to bring our own cakes. Not a problem. We were advised... More
