Description: Re-opening of an iconic Port Douglas pie shop which closed for some years recently. Was possibly the best known pie shop in Australia due to the unique meat pie filling recipe. Now re-opened by Nigel Quinn using the original and still secret pie filling recipe formulated by Mocka Cheyne and his mother Belle Cheyne. Nice little spot in Port Douglas that gets very busy around lunch time. For a cheap alternative to lunch dining, pies are always a good idea. However the quality was not as good as my expectations, but they were still tasty.

If you are visiting Port Douglas, a great place to pick up food to go is at Mocka's Pies. It is located off Macrossan St. which is the main thoroughfare here. Their hours are 8a.m-4p.m. and they have a great selection of homemade pies to go that vary from meat to fruit. Since we had a scheduled van pickup to... More

My family and I popped by recommended by a worker in the tourist shop. Went there and all 4 of us loved it! Went back a couple times, also took some just before we left to have at the airport. The prices are appropriate for what you are getting, found it quite filling and I would definitely go back! Great... More

We stopped here for lunch after reading about it in a Lonely Planet guide book and it was fantastic! I had the kangaroo pie and my husband had the crocodile pie, and we both loved our meals. Definitely worth a stop on your trip, but they close at 4 pm so plan for lunch, not dinner!

Mocka's is overpriced, over rated with average service . The sausage roll was almost cold but tasted okay and the milkshake tasted nice but it wasn't cold.Drinking a warm milkshake in a hot climate isn't refreshing! Also watch you don't get short changed....a female staff member short changed me for a significant amount! Luckily I noticed it on the spot... More

The fact they were award winning and famous in PD got me in. Ordered a sausage roll and steak and onion pie. Sausage roll was ok - good to taste the carrot and onion but the meat was. Dry pink and hard to get past. The pies were ok. Very chunky which was disappointing for a standard plain meat pie.... More

Have tried a few varieties of their pies on our trips to Port Douglas and can't pick a favourite as they're all pretty good. If you're after something a little different try the croc or the seafood pies. You can also purchase bread, sandwiches and slices. Good simple food made well

Great Gourmet pies love it , Bread fantastic too. Mocka's has been an institution in Port Douglas for years and winner of many awards. Crocodile Pies and Curry pies the best.

For $4.50 or so a pie, this a good light meal or afternoon snack. We took them to our holiday apartment and enjoyed the kangaroo pie and steak with bacon pie. We had other pies during our trip, but these were the best. They close at 4 pm, so try to get your pie early in the day. There are... More
