Great food, only Pizza is nothing special

Came to the beach shack four times during our 10 day stay in Port Douglas. The restaurant is highly recommendable: nice atmosphere and very good food, be it seafood, steaks, curries or pasta. We tried a couple of their daily specials and were always happy with our choice. Also their cocktails were... read more

Advised to visit by the resort we stayed at. Busy restaurant with Pizza cafe attached. Food was beautiful and not too expensive. Service was excellent and staff were friendly and considerate. It was our favourite restaurant whilst away.

We ate here several times during our week in Port Douglas. The food is great in both the bar area and the restaurant area. The atmosphere is very laid back and the staff are very friendly, making for a really relaxing evening.

Having seen this on Trip Adviser we decided to give it a go. We are staying in the Ramada Resort so tried out the walk in daylight. It was an easy 12-15 minute walk. At night we took our headlights but the path was relatively well lit. The food was good. We chose the specials....to start with pork belly and... More

Can't come t on menu as had their specials: spangled emperor on gnocchi - excellent and marinara -spectacular. Great atmosphere and not noisy eating outside.

On reflection I wish that I had eaten most of my dinners at the Beach Shack. No wonder that it is a hit with the locals . It is tucked away at the other end of four mile beach so it is not in the tourist strip. I caught the local shuttle bus to and from QT resort so it... More

Hi Helen M, We would have loved to have had you every night for dinner! Thanks for the great review - my friend orders the barra and macca stack too every time she comes in. We hope to see you again and thanks for the plug about our home delivery too! More

This restaurant was highly recommended by a local and we can see why. We had a lovely mixed appetiser of scallops, calamari and arancini followed by seafood/diavola pizzas. The seafood was apparently fantastic and my diavola was about what I would have expected but still good. From seeing other meals, I think there was far more to this restaurant than... More

Hi Daniel s, There is certainly a run on the Seafood pizza at the moment - glad to hear your party enjoyed it. Hopefully you get to come back and try some of our mains - I am super crazy for the steak and the gnocchi myself ... and it isn't even lunchtime yet! More

Visited on a Saturday night, reasonably busy. Cheerful attentive service. Special entree of slow cooked pork belly and scallops was delicious, showed well executed ambition. Pizzas were adequate - wads of topping on rather ordinary base, not that stretched Italian style pizza dough. Good selection of beers. All in all OK, but after reading rave reviews of the pizzas we... More

Hi MarkSarah75, My friend had the pork belly and scallop special the other night and she thought it was awesome too! Disappointed though to hear our pizza didn't meet your expectations. We do tend to use more topping than a traditional Italian pizza would use, but we always take comments in to consideration when cooking. Thanks again for coming along... More

A beautiful place and quirky having a beach floor. Excellent for gluten free requirements. Romantic and peaceful surroundings

Hi 1Dianne1962, Awesome to hear about your gluten free experience. Based on some recent feedback we added some notations and re-printed our menu to make it easier for people to see what was and wasn't gluten free - so it's worked! Thanks for the comment on it More
