We had a. Beautiful lunch here today, starting with a warm damper with macadamia oil dukkuh. It was devine, could have just sat all day & had that. But next we had ordered the tasting plates, which was a choice of 3 dishes from the menu. We chose tempura bugs skewers on lemon grass with green paw paw salad, twice... More

Ochre was recommended as a restaurant for our last night in Australia. Very good suggestion; we enjoyed the very friendly staff and the good food. We ordered the Taste of Australia menu ($70 pp), tasting crocodile, emu, wallaby, kangaroo and much more. It was delicious! The only remark would be that the courses were served very quickly, especially in the... More

Cairns is more for a younger crowd, so it is nice to escape in this very high class restaurant. Food is great: the kangaroo tastes amazing, and they have nice tasting platters, where we tried emu carpaccio, crocodile wonton and kangaroo paté…the service was a little slow but the food was good. It is quite expensive though but I would... More

If you want to try 5 Star Aussie Tucker DO NOT go past these guys. There's even a published cookbook to go with the place. The owner is passionate about 'local food' and it shows. Every mouthful is an experience. Not cheap, but quality never is.

We had eaten here a couple of visits ago and we enjoyed it then and enjoyed it equally as much this trip. The Australian flavours were fantastic, the service was great and overall we had a thoroughly great meal for a reasonable (lunch time special) price.

Very interesting place to try the herb and spices used by Aboriginals. Its very authentic and nice. We had tried few dishes with rice and couscous dishes with some kangaroo meat. Its very tasty and unusual. Its a bit pricey, but our friends enjoyed it, coming from Europe its an adventure in taste.

I was looking for a restaurant where you could get good bush tucker and this restaurant turned up in my search. We made a reservation and head off to see what was it about. The food was great - the mix of traditional meats with western cooking was very tasty. The serving was a delight. We had crocodile and kangaroo... More

Dined here on a busy night and really enjoyed it. Started with damper and macadamia oil and wattle dukkah. Loved the dukkah. Had the Australian platter as a starter which included salmon gravlax, croc wonton, emu carpaccio, roo terrine with a slightly pointless little pancake. The emu was the highlight. Had a sense this was a skite dish for those... More
