If you want to find out what kangaroo, emu, and crocodile taste like, with traditional Australian seasonings, then this is the place to go. You can order platters that have a mix of the different meats prepared in different ways. We visited Ochre in Cairns in mid October 2008. The long relatively narrow restaurant has lots of wood trimmings especially toward the back section of the restaurant which is somewhat separated from the front half. I had a wonderful lunch @ Red Ochre Grill. salad, main, dessert...every single dish were tasty and looks beautiful too. My favourite was Emu spring roll with whipping sauce. I was very comfortable about their service as well. I would love to have a dinner next time. more

Very good at lunch - love the house salad, decent fries, prawn meat on sugar cane sticks, platters for two. Friendly but not overwhelming service. Airconditioning, banquette, perfect for a business or relaxed meal. more
