My partner and I went to Matsuri restaurant for lunch yesterday. As a local we would like to try new thing . When we look at the price, we expected they serve high standard ramen( we ordered soy sauce and nori ramen). However, it is not and very small portion as well, so I gave some noodle and the only... We visit this restaurant every chance we get. The food is exceptionally good value (large servings at a less- than-equivalent-restaurant- price). The presentation is beautiful, the sashimi is fresh, the karate is crunchy and the service is outstanding. We have gone back a number of times and are slowly working our way through the menu. For a taste of everything... More

A friend and I visited Matsuri on a recommendation and had an excellent meal! It's a small hole in the wall but tastefully decorated with friendly staff and quick service. The edamame was so-so and miso soup standard but everything else was wonderful, from kimchi ramen and tofu udon noodle dishes to seaweed salad and a lovely plate of sashimi.... More

Read a few different reviews and I thought I'd give this place a go. I ordered the spicy ramen, the dumplings, tori karange (fried chicken) set and 2 alcoholic beverages. Paid $60 in total. Service was good. Food wasn't too bad. Servings were very large and price was OK. I would come here again.

It has been a really long time since I was able to say that the Japanese meal I ate was brilliant, but this place was. I would highly recommend this place and right near the night market so a perfect end to a great evening.

Matsuri is our favourite place in Cairns for Japanese. The sashimi can be expensive but you pay for what you get - quality. The seaweed salad and sushi is always fresh and made to order, the gyoza are some of the best i've had outside Japan. Never disappoints, and has something for everyone.. Someties there's a little language barrier with... More

we always have our first dinner in Cairns at this establishment... this is our fourth trip to Cairns. We are yet to have a bad experience here! sashimi is always fresh and well presented, tekko rolls beatiful, soy beans never too salty and dumplings fresh.... a pity that Yebisu is no longer available as it always works so well with... Love the Combo grill and fried chicken Don. Sashimi bento is great too. Highly recommended if you are looking the best jap in the city. It is near the cairns esplanade, you can take a walk after the dinner.

Ventured in for dinner. Restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and a wide range to pick from. Sake was beautiful. However, meal was disappointing. Sashimi a delight as was the miso soup but the deep fried chicken and adegashi tofu were disappointing. Chicken tasted very floury and i didnt eat more than a few bites. Go for sushi and sashimi due... More
