We went to eat here on a sunday evening. The powerhouse is a nice setting but as soon as we entered the restaurant part, it was clear that it was quite loud, partly due to the bar part. The food itself was very good, nice plates of pasta. For europeans, it is always funny to see non italian waiters pronouncing... More

We enjoyed dinner after seeing a show at the Brisbane Powerhouse. Everything about the evening was great - the food, the service, and the atmosphere! And, it was nice to see Bar Alto still accommodating late night arrivals as late as 10PM. This is rare for Brisbane! Despite being packed due the popularity of the cabaret festival, Bar Alto treated... More

Alto is a great stop for a drink before or after a show, and it's always consistent for a casual meal, too.

Have been here more times that I can count. Its our go to place. Service is consistently excellent and the food is amazing. We recently took friends who were leaving the country and they were upset that they had never been before. One downside....the duck ravioli has gone off the menu, very sad as this is dish is quite possible... More

Went here for a dinner date and had the olive marinate to start followed by the insalata verdure arrosto and pan-fried quail, all were just the right size to not fill you up but make you feel satisfied, for mains we ate the pappardelle with goat ragu and braised lamb belly and both were very filling despite the lamb not... We stumbled upon this restaurant by accident, wandered upstairs and perused the "fascinating"menu. You'll know what we mean when you see the menu for yourselves - lots of creativity going on here. The service was spot-on. Fellow diners and drinkers at the restaurant and bar were all well dressed and socially normal (makes a change!). The view over the river... More

We dined here before a show and everything about Bar Alto is of a high standard. The service was friendly and efficient, and we had no worries about having to hurry our food to make our show: we even had time for coffee. The food is traditional Italian, but the decor and style is purposefully contemporary. The menu is not... More

Had a family luncheon here on another warm sunny Brisbane afternoon. Set right beside the river it has stunning views across the city. The food is excellent, with lovely regional Italian dishes offered. We had the pasta with side salad, ideal for lunch finished off with great coffee. My Duck Pappardelle lacked a little on presentation, ravioli islands floating in... More
