Good food but a little expensive

I had booked a table the day before for my wife's birthday. When we arrived, we found that the restaurant had made the booking for the night before, although I was very clear about which night we were booking. The restaurant was packed but a table was found for us on the veranda. In a way, this... read more

I had the waygu steak with peppercorn sauce. Now I like my steak blue and this was just perfect, melt in the mouth, with a really delicious green peppercorn sauce. The service was excellent. I loved it. My son had the chilli ribs and he said they were fantastic as well.

My wife and I ate here with our friends at their recommendation. This is a beautifully presented venue and the staff are very polite and professional. The food however is quite expensive. We ordered a pizza to share between us as they are quite large and there was next to no topping on the pizza. It was a great disappointment.... More

We had eaten at The Grove on each of our previous seven visits to Australia. Whilst far from 'fine dining' it nevertheless provided solid service, good food at a reasonable price. That was what kept us going back. Well, never again! This year's visit show a place with all the signs of being on the skids. The wrong wine as... More

Make reservations direct not online. We did this and the booking did not go thru but the owner/manager John was all over it and organised a great spot for the 6 of us to have our meals after having a few pre-dinner drinks in the bar downstairs. The staff were attentive and the food was tasty, great portions and good... More

It used to be a relaxing place for a meal with friends, now it is eat and get out and go to our bar. First question from the waiter when e sat down was ' what do you want to eat? We had not even had time to open the menu. He also did not take his job seriously, too... More

Wow - $75 for two mains and a wine and 2 beers for lunch and it wasn't even anything fantastic, ribs and a chicken salad. Wow. Wont be back for lunch unless they come up with a lunch menu. Setting is great, shame the air conditioning wasn't on as it was a hot humid day, staff were great, wine wasn't... More

My friend and I had not be here for a long time. But now there is a new owner so we decided to try it again. We were pleasantly surprised, it was quite busy. We did not book cause from previous experience it was not necessary. That was a good start, the owner was very helpful and pleasant and found... More

Over the last few months me and a handful of friends have formed the habit of dropping in for a quiet bevvie on a Saturday afternoon and we have become very fond of the downstairs bar. The bar has a slightly industrial, yet very comfortable decor, and because it is downstairs feels just a bit like a comfortable cave. A... More

There are a few things that I disliked about The Grove. The first was the service and rudeness of the downstairs barman named Isaac who obviously hated his job. His behaviour was appalling and, in order to assist The Grove to keep clientele, should be terminated. He is certainly not doing The Grove any favours by working behind the bar.... More
