To much anticipation by Philip Johnson's strong local following, e'cco bistro opened its doors in 1995, starting what has turned out to be a Brisbane landmark restaurant. Located in an historic building on the fringe of Brisbane's central business district, the century old former tea warehouse oozes with character an ambiance. Almost twenty years on, e'cco underwent a total refurbishment in October of 2014, giving it a contemporary look, yet preserving the inviting, warm bistro feel that has stood the test of time. As Philip says "We do as little as possible with the best ingredients available."

Nice Decor ~ Plenty of Staff ~ Good Food & Service

5 of us dined here on Tuesday night for a farewell dinner. There was no record of our booking when we arrived but as there was plenty of empty tables this was not an issue. The name "bistro" to me suggests cheaper than a classy restaurant, but this was quite an upmarket restaurant. Staff were... read more

Dinner for two on a Tuesday evening and the restaurant was about 20% full. We were seated at our table which was right under the air-conditioner unit, We asked if we could be moved but our waitress arranged for the air-con to be turned down. Lovely fresh bread, choice of three types, although all a ciabatta style they were very... More

Could not fault the food, the service and the atmosphere. Such a lovely hidden gem as it is not on the main high street.

Our last night in Brisbane, special dinner at Ecco. Two sittings always seems to rush you but this was better organised. We arrived at 6.15pm, and we were gone by 8.10pm. The place was packed, tables very close, a bit noisy. Our waitress was a bit distracted, but as they got busier, we were served by other happier staff, they... More

Booked a table there for lunch with a friend from HK. Food was nice but the female waitress wasn't very warm nor friendly. When I asked her about the menu and she was a bit impatient . Quite disappointed about this female staff.

I researched somewhere contemporary and this restaurant was rated highly by locals. I should have twigged when a group of the locals mentioned it was BYO. The degustation was very well presented and tasty, however we wanted to order a few glasses of wine off the menu separate to the degustation. The wine list online was not representative of what... Food tasted very nice, but it seemed a bit like a cafe setting. Choice of busy music didn't really suit the dining experience.

From the minute you walk in when you are personally greeted this very busy but professional restaurant in Fortitude Valley lives up to its promise. Menu is either degustation or a La Carte but if having Degustation whole table needs to have . Offers 2 sittings so if at earlier one ( 6 sh ) you need to be finished... More

We were a walk-in on Wednesday night and found a table straight away. A spur of the moment birthday dinner, we chose the tasting menu with accompanying wines. At $135 the food was perfect and a good sized glass of well matched wine on each course was a bargain. Service was efficient and friendly, food prepared with care and falloff... More
