I guess the downturn in the mining industry in Australia has far reaching consequences. With the Sofitel Brisbane being a favourite haunt of employees from the big mining companies it must be feeling the effects of the downturn. I have been to this restaurant many times over the last 20 years (through various name changes and face-lifts). Unfortunately this is... More

As soon as you walk into the restraunt, the aromas hit your nostrils and you feel like you are in heaven. Saturday night is the best night because of the seafood and when my wife and I went with my two boys and girfriends it was a French theme. The food is fresh tasty and plenty of it. Prawns, bugs,... The food here is wonderful. It is a buffet, but the difference to most is that there are only small plates of food which are constantly renewed. The seafood is great and have to say so is the rest of their food. On the weekends there is a never ending flow of 'bubbles' included. The view over the city is... More

Went for. 21st birthday interactive lunch. Seafood was fresher than expected and was topped up continuously. Oysters were of reasonable quality, bugs were a little on the small side but the prawns were just exceptionally good. The other areas of the lunch was good too. The entre section was to be expected with some salads, cold cuts. The sushi wasn't... More

I recently enjoyed the buffet breakfast at Thyme with my wife and two small kids. Although we regularly eat out with he kids, especially for breakfast, we did feel a little out of place at this restaurant. This buffet feels refined, grown up and a notch above the regular hotel buffet breakfasts. In saying that, however, this is one of... More

The breakfast continues to be an enjoyable experience with a very good range of choices and quantity coupled with very attentive and helpful staff. Over many years this continues to be a proven winner and one of the singular reasons (apart from location) for choosing this hotel.

As usual the service was wonderful at both the bar where we had our pre-dinner drinks and in the restaurant. The problem was the actual dining experience. Not sure if it was because expectations were high when I made the booking for the advertised "Elio Moda Italian Week' for my husbands birthday or that it was attempted in a buffet... More

We attended Thyme for breakfast with some friends from the United States. As per usual, anyone that we meet at the Sofitel absolutely raves about the service and accommodation. We had our two year old daughter with us, so it was a little disappointing to be taken to the absolute back of the restaurant as sitting closer would have been... More

My husband and I went along for the advertised "Italian week" special menu and showcase of Italian fashion. We sat down at the bar first for our special Italian drinks. My Bellini was absolutely delicious. The Italian meal at the restaurant was a very disappointing buffet that was very empty and not at all enticing. Actually it was an insult... More

During our weekend stay at Sofitel, husband and I had dinner and breakfast at the Thyme restaurant . Our window table provided a delightful view of Brisbane by night . The spread was first class, the seafood area proved very popular with all guests . It was the polite, helpful, staff who make the Thyme so superb . HELPFUL HINT... More
